We met about a year before we got together on a night out with a mutual friend, I was seeing someone else at the time. Few months on I was single and had moved to Ireland and back and got a message on a football forum asking if I fancied a drink. Nearly 5 years on & we're married with a 10 week old baby.

I got out of bed at midnight and went clubbing...
It is nice to see the value of your house going up'' Why ?
Unless you are planning to sell up and not live anywhere, I can;t see the advantage.
If you are planning to upsize the new house will cost more.
If you are planning to downsize your new house will cost more than it should
If you are trying to buy your first house its almost impossible.

I don't get nearly enough credit for not being a violent psychopath.

We were another university student fling (I'd been going out with one of his mates, who eventually was his best man) - that was 33 years ago and it's better than ever....

I first met my husband when we were about 18. My brother met him at college and he came to our house with a crowd of other students. He was at the time engaged to a girl. We got on well as friends and on holiday with a group of friends had a very flirtatious moment but called a halt to it immediately we realised what was happening. We were both very moral about it. He then went on to marry his fiancee.

Fast forward ten years and a lot of life under the bridge. I hadn't seen him for years and had just walked out on the bloke I had been living with. Life with him had become untenable.

Anyway, newly divorced, he came to my mother's front door and asked if he could keep his boat in our garage. He had a dinghy of some sort. Then he asked me if I wanted to go and visit my brother who was now married and living in a village in the countryside. We started driving over there regularly but we were a lot more stilted and shy than we used to be which was strange.

It took a while but we have now been married for 33 years.

  • In Contract I tutorial in our first week, first year, at university. Mates for just over a year, then started going out. Now, 15 years later, I think he's wonderful, the best man in the world.
