Id been in the same postion as the OP , Id come out of a very turbalent 16 years with the father of my daughter , had some time on my own and then wasready to start dating again , after trying the online, pub , nightclub route , I'd had enough of meeting plonkers so decided to join the local gym for some me time and forget about men for a while !!
I went to a sunday morning class , and noticed a lone man in the class and he kept getting his feet mixed up and made me laugh .
in fact i thought he was gay at first . started off by saying hi to each other .
one day i was in the jaccuzi and he came over and talked to me , but im deaf and didnt have my hearing aids in . but he faced me so i could lipread him
10 out of 10 for that !!
progressed to a coffee a few times after than , then i invited him for a meal i cooked at my home , and the rest is history , been married 8 years now !!The original janiebaby

On Match just over a year ago, and I moved in with him at Christmas last year.
Then about 8 months ago, we set up my best friend with his best friend, and they've just moved in together :-)Common sense just isn't that common any more....0 -
I met my OH on an app on Facebook called Social Me in April 2008.
You commented on other peoples profile pictures as to what you thought of them cute, funny, sexy ect.
Initially I clicked passed his photo but something made me go back for another look and I thought yeah you know what he's kinda cute.
The app had a message facility on it and he sent me a message saying thanks. From there we started to message often then we added each other on Facebook and MSN.
After a while he asked for my mobile number and we started texting. In the November he invited me to Birmingham to go see a band called Flogging Molly who we both love. I got the last train up to Birmingham on the Friday night and he was 20 minutes late meeting me lol. Went back to his mum's and by the Monday we pretty much knew we were an item.
He moved from Birmingham to Essex in the June of 2009 to live with me. We got engaged in January 2010 and 2 dogs and 6 cats later we got married in April this year.

My first and only love.
Still love the 'Girl' i met all those years ago.....
Even though the woman today sometimes annoys me.....but when i think about the girl i fell in love with all those years ago.......
Its annoys me no more.......Still love the 'Girl' more than life itself......lol0 -

My sister set us up, she used to work with him. We are still together after 13 years and are now married with 2 kids.0

Met my OH in a history lecture. He had the usual start of Uni bug & was swigging Venos from the bottle, but wanted to hear the lecture. We never learned each others names for ages (default greeting then being merely "Hi!") & even after we did learn them, nothing came of it other than friendship. I got into several, shall we say unsuccessful, relationships, but he stayed my friend. We left Uni, & he kept in touch (me still making mistakes).
I got a job in Manchester & he'd come over on the bus from wherever he was every now & again.
Eventually I woke up & smelled the coffee! His patience and perseverance worked. He grumbles gently that it took the best part of a decade, but does admit that it worked. Married 15 years so far, with three lads - this "being a rock" lark can pay off.
If you want to meet new people, even a part time course at university (with access to all the societies & clubs!) is great.0 -
