May I join you for January please?
My weekly target is £70
this equates to £3600 p.a. or £300 pcm I hope to do a monthly meat shop and I'm aiming at £15 - £20 per we'll k from an independent butchers which may mean cutting down the number of meat meals we have in a week.
I'm currently feeding five adults and as a childminder providing lunches for up to four children and two adults plus after school snacks so I'll have to use January as a fact finding mission to see if this is possible!

It actually went really well.. 1200ml of cream in total made 600g of butter (now frozen) and 500ml buttermilk
The cream took a while to become butter but when it did it was so much fun to see it suddenly go 'splot' lolApril 2021 Grocery Challenge 34.29 / 2500 -
Hope you all had a good Chrissy. We had traditional turkey roast with all the trimmings and then LO cold turkey with salad and creamy mash for Boxing day. Have put rest in freezer - about 3 meals worth
That's 3 NSDs for me but will need milk and some fresh veg tomorrow. Still should be okay for budget though as still stuff in freezers.
Hope you all have a great Saturday

I lost track a little bit again this month - various things got grouped into my weekly shop (gifts, raffle wine, household stuff) and I didn't quite work out what items were covered under my different budgets. I decided to give £40 to my Mum for the big pre-Christmas shop, which I think leaves me £20 to put towards the rest of the month. I'm still at my parents, so will give that to Mum the next time we go for a big shop.
Like others on here, we nipped to Mr T on boxing day (just a small extra store, so not a lot selection) and we picked up tonne's of YL food down to 10% - we got pizzas reduced from £5 to 50p, clementines for 10p, croissants for 12p, choccies all less than half price. I think our trolley cost about £13 for around £80 worth of food. Will remember to do that next year I think!
I've been working on budgets for next year as well. The amount I've been working with (£80/month) seems to be working well. I'm going to stick with that, but aiming to come in under budget wherever possible so I can put the change aside for next year.0 -
Aldi and Asda weekly shop today - spent a whopping £97.13  But it did include YS rack of lamb, packs of stewing steak, prawns and cheese and beer gift sets. The rest of the day will be spent batch cooking for the freezer!
That's my budget spent this month, but I should have loads of frozen meals to see us through January.

First spends for a while today and it came to £7.27 got bread, lemonade, a newspaper some cheese thins, T. Bags and tomatoes. Didn't notice any good reductions except 1kg sprouts for 50p - we already have some left so wasn't tempted.
Some meat was just reduced by 30-50p which is rubbish.
Tomorrow will be a NSD and Monday we are out with friends so also hoping for a NSD (different budget at least) that just leaves Tuesday so underspend is going to be very good - at least £100 less than what was set aside.MARCH £62.38/2500 -
Hope everyone has a good Xmas!
More spends to report:
Missed receipt of £2.79 in Mr S on 11/12
18/12 - £2.35 in Mr S
18/12 - £1.24 in Mr T
20/12 = £1.10 in Mr S
Then around £5 in random corner shops
Total = £12.48
At my parents all week so saving money there - back to work on Monday, so should come under budget as a result.

Hope everyone has had a lovely Christmas! Sorry for being absent for so long. I've not really been buying groceries in my usual manner as I'm home, so kept forgetting to update. I'm at £102, but this may go up as I'm hosting a NYE party on the 31st so will need to get a few bits for that.
EDIT: Nick, just read your post above. I'm so sorry for your lossHope you are all doing as well as can be expected xx

Long time no post for me but have just totted up my annual spend and I have exceeded my annual target by £227.10 or a total spend of 106.31% against my target of £3600 for the year. I just took my eye off the prize for the last two months, which for me proves I need to read and post regularly to maintain my guilt or I overspend!
Good to see some of the long-term regulars still in attendance and my sympathies NickJW.
All the best for 2014 everyone
