NICK - So sorry to hear about your Nan. (Hugs to you - smilies not working)
LOLA 76 - That's some going over your budget but well done you on admitting it and hope January is a much better month for you.
We were having a pork joint for today but DH doesn't feel to good - headache and nauseous- so have phoned mum and said we are not picking her up as we usually do as don't want her to pick any germs up if possible. The pork is sitting in the fridge and will wait another day at least.
Am going to spend some time later on today listing a few goals I want to aim for in 2014.MARCH £62.38/2500 -

Have to come Clean
Despite planning to spend 280 for December, I have gone waaaaay over the top. My shopping came to eye watering 793.57. Hardest thing was admitting the truth to myself
Really cross with myself. This has kicked my backside. I am at my list of monthly meals and I will stick to it. My cupboards and fridge are full. I will spend 120 this month, I run from 28 the to 28 th. Basing on my stocks this is realistic. Thank you for all your support Everyone
OOps that's some way over, never mind it happens to the best as they say. Forget it now and concentrate on your very positive
plan for January. You have done the hard bit in facing up to it and I just know you are going to have a fabulously successful Jan.Slimming World at target0 -

Hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas,
Well ... I have had the opportunity to read the wonderful advice on here and from about May had spreadsheets set up, in reasonable detail, and decided to link activities to assess the effect of one activity on another.
The truth hurts but by far the most costly activity was not occasional shopping on the way home from work, as such, it was drinking in a pub. Alcohol lowers blood sugar levels to increase appetite and so damages all the meal planning and budgeting by resulting in food on the way home and buying almost unnecessary groceries. It also reduces the amount of time that can be spent organizing matters.
An average spend for weeks including 0 evenings in the pub (for about two/three hours), would be about £40. Each evening in the pub results in additional expenditure of about £20 (only £12 of which was on beer). I went out on average about 2.5 nights per week.
For 2014, my personal challenge will be to go out once a week.
I have also noticed that interacting with this forum regularly helps strengthen motivation and is the source of some fantastically creative ideas.
All the best to everyone for the New Year
