Went shopping with DH this afternoon instead of going myself earlier in the day as I usually do. Big mistake - ended up buying quite a few bits that weren't on my list which wouldn't have been bought if I'd shopped as normal:mad:.
Still wasn't too bad as only spent £23.43 bring the total to date to £184.16/£280. Only have just over a week to go until the end of "my" month, which ends 20th so only one more small shop to do next Tuesday for a bit of fruit at the market, shouldn't need anything else.

Sorry about your cooker - hope you have other things like combi-microwave and steamer to keep you fed.
NSD yesterday and today. Nearly cracked and had a takeaway, but restrained myself!
Dinner last night of orange&chipotle chicken served with flavoured rice.

Well done on being so restrained :j
Chicken sounds nice - do you have recipe pleaseI stopped watching superscrimpers because it just made me angry
and can do without the stress at my age :rotfl:
It could be done so well and help a lot of people if done properly. They have the resources to research and find the people who could really contribute helpful money saving ideas, but no ridiculous old popstar who can spend £2k on a Christmas dinner,
would be more impressed if he had fed 2,000 people on this.
OK rant over as said getting angry does me no good at all.
I totally agree with you Meg - people on here could leave them standing :rotfl:
Another NSD for me :j but have to do dreaded SM tomorrow.
Had hm steak & kidney casserole (freezer) and mash with steamed carrots, cauli and broc. Really enjoyed and enough left to make soup !! (not the mash) Freezer levels slowly sinking
Hope you all have a Fantastic Friday the 13th

22nd November - 20th December
I had set a budget of £250, and I did my last shop last night and we have everything we need. So my final figure is £255.05
Not bad considering while pregnant we we're spend £280 - £320 in 4 weeks so it's come down a lot
20th December - 17th January
Going to try our original budget of £240. I've done my meal plan for the 4 weeks and I've ordered all none fresh food to be delivered. And my projected spend is 11p under budget. And I now shop after dinner on a Thursday to avoid buying 'treats' and 'snacks' I hope we can come in budgetWe spend money we don't have, on things that we don't need, to impress people we don't like. I don't and I'm happy! Mortgage Free Wannabe :dance:Overpayments Made: £5400 - Interest Saved: £11,550 - Months Saved: 240 -
Two spends yesterday: £4.08 in A$da for a box of 12 eggs and a packet of brioche (for Mr Mooo!)
£4.39 in Te$co for two packs of crumpets (reduced to 30p), a pack of green beans (reduced to 42p and had half with dinner last night, will have the other half tonight), a loaf of low-cal bread (reduced to 37p) and six tins of pears. The pears were on 2 for £1 so I stocked up. The diet plan I follow allows for tinned fruit in juice and you can get savers peaches in juice but they get dull after a while. If anyone sees pears in juice under 50p a tin let me know0 -

Yep, I agree. It would be so good to see 'average' families getting help. It's easy to give tips if they spend 2k! What if they spent say 2k a year - how could you give them tips to save further? Could be a very useful tool to help, but there's no-one on there that is relatable for the average household.

Lynnejk - are you trying to clear the freezer in preparation for Chirsmtas or for cleaning?
Also, afraid I don't make anything to a recipe, but I have found one online that looks similar.

Quite good for using the zest of oranges. For a more orangey falvour, a spoon of marmalade can be added.

Mooomin - Good haul! Can't say tinned pears, but how about tinned pineapple? That's usually pretty cheap

NSD yesterday.
Spendy weekend though.

Have just been shown this and I find it unbelievable. Where do they get their figures from, £699 for 3 months food for one, that's £233 a month, £58.25 a week, and they are struggling? I know many families who manage on less than that.
