Absolutely agree Meg. What on earth are they buying that they spend that much?

Sorry about your cooker - hope you have other things like combi-microwave and steamer to keep you fed.
Aww, thanks. We have a micro, a fryer, a slow cooker and a kettle, we're fine, just a bit restricted
. Having Roast Beef dinners in the pinger for dinner tonight - DH got them for nothing from work which is a bonus.

Have just been shown this and I find it unbelievable. Where do they get their figures from, £699 for 3 months food for one, that's £233 a month, £58.25 a week, and they are struggling? I know many families who manage on less than that.

I got bored this afternoon and went shopping. Normally that could be a disaster but I turned the trip in to my christmas food shop. I now only need around £30 worth of fresh stuff on the 23rd.
The total shop came to £31.17, I am really pleased with that:j It helps that I got my big gammon last week:D
I will update my signature now.£36/£240

meg I agree about superscrimpers....I watched the Christmas special last year and couldn't stomach the silly mare fawning over her ladyship...also when the wonderful advice from said ladyship was bring in a tree from your estate
very sadabout the people cant make ends meet...I am off to buy a few presents this weekend and finalise what we want to eat over Christmas...trying to keep it quite simple but lovely...easy then

NSD here as well. Yesterday I spent just over £6 at Her0n on dairy, and some treats for MIL's birthday today. Got a lot for my money - 4 blocks of butter, 4 posh yogurts, 2 blocks of jack cheese, covent garden soup, two big bars of chocolate 'teasers' and a roll of turkey tin foil

I have no idea what to get for Christmas dinner. There are only two of us, plus the cat, so I don't want to spend a fortune on a turkey, especially as we will end up eating it for weeks. Even the smallish turkey crowns in the supermarket are over £20. :eek:0

MOOOMIN - do you like lamb, friends of ours always have lamb as they dont eat it rest of year as its expensive and there are two of them. Have what you want meat wise I would think about steak, a decent chicken or maybe a duck.
Another NSD today although did buy some alcohol for Christmas, went to Te$co for the 3 for £20 and once got home realised had been charged £27 (there was some stuff on the receipt of mums so didn't notice it straight away) Tomorrow will be going back and exchanging plus will point out that the pricing is very misleading as they have all sorts of packs mixed in together some in the 3 for £20 and some not. I am the 3rd person to get mislead that I have known about this week so how many more will have been duped and not done anything about it.
Tea tonight was chicken curry, rice and poppadoms. We also had some salad with it.MARCH £62.38/2500 -
I like lamb when done well but don't trust my boyfriends cooking skills! I cook for most of the year so Christmas is his turn
I might just buy a posh chicken with stuffing or something. I really don't want to waste a lot of money as my hours at work are reducing next year and I'm trying to get into the habit of being careful with money before it happens.0 -
I have just added up my totals and have £32.23 to last until payday on 20th which sounds easily doable - famous last words!! Its the first time in ages that I have started to feel that I can take control of this and am getting there. Good luck everyone.I'm not a failure if I don't make it, I'm a success because I :tried!0
