Big weekly shop today - spent £85.73 - I'm still well in budget though.

I've got most of the meals up to the Crimbo onslaught frozen from a batch cook last weekend - turkey chilli, lamb and apricot tagine, boeuf bourguignon and Javanese chicken curry - penne arrabiata, frittata or risotto should be quick and easy for the other days. Gives me loads of time for baking, veg prep, tree sorting, extra spangly cleaning and raising of the wrist!

    NSD here.
I made a huge pot of steak casserole today. Also made an apple pie to fill oven and because cooking apples - free - were crying out to be used up.
Dinner was steak casserole + jacket potato + mushy peas - yummy. There are 4 days dinners left to go in the freezer. The apple pie will feed us for 6 days.

  • Morning all - just had a small spend yesterday as needed frozen chips - must try doing SW chips again in the New Year but never had much success with them before - any tips anyone please?

Other things bought are stock cupboard items - eg buy 1 get 2 free on R*gu at Mr M's so will come off next month's budget.

Just about to compile my list of must haves for our Christmas shop and hoping £70 ish will cover it!! We do have all the booze and nibbly bits in and don't eat chocolate so hope I can make it.

    Will report again next weekend.

  • I was doing so well with this challenge at the start of the month but am now well over budget. This is mainly due to me having tonsillitis last weekend through to Wed and OH has bought takeaways. I will get back on target with the January challenge.

Today I am using up some bits from the fridge to make soup - 2 peppers and some tomatoes - for Lunches this week. I am really trying to focus on losing weight and this week there will be chocolates galore at work with it being the last week of term. My aim is to not eat any chocolates at all!! On Monday there will be 2 birthday celebrations in my Nurture Groups, one in the morning and one in the afternoon so I will let myself have a bit of birthday cake;).
  • £52 tesco shop today..used a £12 off £60 shop code. Lots of food and Christmas things so should be sorted for December now bar bread/milk/fruit top ups :)
