We get paid early in December and I usually end up spending alot of this wage even before we get to January. The challenge this year will be to NOT do that!

A huge spend of just under £47 today:eek::eek:
I have had a stock up though on lots of things. I went to the Chinese supermarket and bought enough curry mix to do 80 portions, plus 2kg of prawn crackers. This will go with hm curries and as snacks for the next three months
50 spring rolls for just £1.95, they will make a few meals. I also got 23 packets of noodles, they are the same price as basics but way better quality.
500g of frozen raw king prawns for christmas for £3.95
750g of chilli flakes for £2.15 but this will last a year, I was down to my last inch in the jar I keep them in.
And 2.5kg of potatoes for just 95p.
Then I went to Aldi with the £5 off voucher that is in todays daily express.
I bought screen wash x2,
15 eggs, toilet rolls, onions, swede, soft cheese, stuffing mix, mushrooms, crisps, toiletries and a huge gammon that worked out at around £3.7 a kilo. The rest went on winter outer clothes but I don't count that in this budget.
I am going to try to not spend until next Thursday now except milk. I am well stocked so I should be able to.
I'm off to do some batch cooking now, have a good low spend day everyone :j£36/£240

Have done my main shop for this week and spent £50.74, so a total of £130.63 so far this month. This did include one small christmas gift so was really about £40 for grocery shopping and I've allowed about £50 a week so still OK. Shouldn't need anything apart from maybe some fruit from the market on Tuesday but may not need that as got loads of satsumas today because Tesco bags of them on BOGOF; still got 4 sharon fruit, 6 bananas & a pear. I've also got a few tins of fruit in the cupboard we could use if necessary.

I spent £13.99 in lidl today. Very impressed with my haul.
Then went into tesco and spent £16.44 and feel like I have nothing to show for it! Bought some kitkats, Terry's oranges and bits to make chocolate sleighs as well in that price, but still!
I think I am still a bit of a snob as I still wouldn't buy some products at lidl, but I think for the price it's worth trying at least once.0 -

Dumb question but do you use stuffing mix for these? They sound right up my street so would love to make some - is it just puff pastry, sausage meat and stuffing mix (made up but not cooked)?
Small £7 spend to report; nipped in to Sainsburys to get bf some cold and flu meds (awkward as he can only take certain ones!) And some soothers - bless him he is crippled with a cold/man flu atm (not good as it affects how all his other meds work and/or wear off so leaves him slow and floppy!) But also picked up a DVD of Jack Frost for £3going to the supermarket on Sunday so will pick up the bits I have promised to take to the parents for Christmas (a bottle of wine, snowballs, schloer/non-alcoholic drinks, fruit and nuts, crackers for cheese, table crackers, chocolates, snack bits and probably some brandy butter!!) Will buy what I can on offer and we shouldn't need anything for ourselves until closer to pay day after that (20th) as we are away.
Going to start saving for Christmas properly from January's pay. Only £20 or so a month but every little will help as we will host Christmas next year!************************************

That's a genius idea! I'm going to do that. I have a lot of expenditures in January due to having run the storecupboard down to a few stray pasta shells in the cupboard and half a bag of peas in the freezer, so must not spend it all straight away...Novuna personal finance 0% 4-year £518/£1866Credit card debt free!
