Still no delivery date for new freezer

My two houseguests are doing most of the cooking in the house and I dare not list what they have added to the fridge and freezer.

My contents in the fridge are

Thai green curry paste - enough for one green curry
Tartex - a vegetarian spread, enough for one slice of bread
    Milk
    Cheese with pineapple
    Butter
    Vegetables and salad

New freezer ordered but no delivery date as yet. When I hear that it is due I'm wondering what I am going to do about my guests' food.

Mr F got a pack of 12 chicken wings whoops - £1.06 today but he paid for them.
In to freezer - chicken wings.
Out of freezer - chilli + HM SC pastry + 2 muffins + HM Bucks Bacon Badger.
I wanted a bag of grated cheese out of the freezer but Mr F couldn't find it!
We had HM BPITH + roast potatoes/parsnips + cabbage + carrots + gravy for dinner.

    Afternoon all.

I picked up a few bargains in mr W 2 packs of 2 fancy gammon steaks one of which was reduced by mistake as its bbe is 15th feb. and a pack of 2 cod cakes for £3.70 also picked up reduced bean sprouts and Noodles ( which will go in the freezer) thinking what to do with bean sprouts.

Thanks to whoever it was that told me the reductions in waitrose still worked with the multi buys.

Also went and got some of the 1kg bargain mince from my neighbours shop, she was kind enough to put it in 2 seperate bags, i will cook one lot today, as im trying to do the more fresh thing, the other lot will go in the freezer. 500g is a lot for me to cook, so prob do a shepards pie tonight and season whatever is left of that and do maybe meatballs or burgers later on in the week.

Also got fruit and veg, asparagus, cucumber, carrots, onions etc, but still need tinned fruit so i can do my smoothies, but the bags are so heavy i couldnt bear to carry any more! this will do for now though, certainly won't starve.

Now i just need some carton tomatoes, pinto bean, sweetcorn, tortilla wraps and cheese and i wont really need anything else (she says lol)

    Can you freeze shepards pie?

Bargain on the chicken wings flo, i love chicken wings!

Kirri you will be pleased to know that i had yet another vege meal yesterday, jacket potato with spicy beans.

Need to finish off beans so will have that with shepards pie.

  • no ins to report, been quite successful so far ,can now open cupboards without things falling out. Got a few things on wishlist amazon as they are quite cheap but waiting until end of month and will do a big cupboard shop. I don't buy everything like that from amazon. i still price check it and as long as they are the same as the supermarket (sometimes better after subscribeandsave) then i will get (i also use amazon vouchers from the likes of shopandscan etc so it really helps on the budget)

  • rather embarrassing use up on sunday, decided to use a bag of frozen plums to make a crumble for afters, found a bag of what i thought was apple but close inspection by everyone decreed it was swede (so that went in the pots for mashing) we were joking the crumble would have been quite interesting if it had been swede and plum then DD2 said er mum ive just found beetroot in my crumble. there was only one piece as no one else complained or owned up to finding any more. moral of that story is i need to label bags of stuff in freezer not just throw it in convinced my memory will work.

ive written a list of all stuff in freezer and plan to meal plan for the next two weeks to use some of it up.

Shepherds pie is great to freeze MNR, It is one of those that tastes even better :j

I have had a busy day, 4x hm pizza bases in, bendy parsnips in, 1 crusty roll in, some yoghurt in.
Out, 1 batch of cheese and chilli biscuit mix, 4 yorkshire puddings and some leeks and carrots. The yorkshires were for a chicken dinner tonight and the leeks and carrots went in to an oxtail stew for tomorrows lunch:)

  • Lol so, I used all the mince in the cottage pie, did a carrot and potato topping and added some kale to the mince, boy that was yummy, even had seconds lol, but forgot to have the beans on the side. I thought I'd miss the cheese, but I didn't.

Forget freezing the pie, there is like 2-3 portions left, so will go in the fridge for a few day's dinner, this Time with a side of veg or beans.
