Hi there,
I'm new to the thread, but i really need to clear out my pantry/freezers! like seriously at an estimate i think i may have 6 months worth of food... you may laugh but im not kidding, i'm abit of a prepper, had a bad year last year with covid, had no income ... ran down my pantry .... got a job, over compensated! enough said.
Quick question what is with the In-V's Out.. I sort of understand/guess that it's to do with the things you 'bought in' v's the things you've used "Out". Where i'm confused is when people say 'Out :0' im assuming you did eat something? are you only tracking in v's out on certain items?

@HappySloth The 0 when I use it means I've taken nothing from the freezer or put nothing in the freezer. I don't keep track of cupboard and fridge contents as that would make the posts too long!

Hi @Happy_Sloth, welcome. And wanting to clear out your freezer/pantry is an excellent reason for joining. You not the only one who starts with overflowing freezers and cupboards! Feel free to take inventory and post it here! If nothing else it will help you with what to use first/bin.
I post for both pantry and freezer. I end up with like 3/4 kinds of flours! So it helps me be accountable and not buy what i don't need. Also, the other posters always have great ideas on what leftovers can be frozen and not end up in the bin, so i learn something new too.
It's good for the soul to walk with your soles on the soil.3 -
On a side note, even though it is not freezer/pantry, wanted to share. Today decided to get a L1dl £1.50 mixed veg/fruit box at my local at work, since no one seems to buy them. The manager, by his own admission, went a bit big with the selection. Weighed it: 9.4kg of fruit and veg! Yikes! Very happy and nice selection of everything! It's good for the soul to walk with your soles on the soil.2

so I've decided to tackle the cupboards a few at a time, use up anything in them that's Something I consider outside our 'staples' or anything that's nearing it's use by date.
So my Out is all about the stuff on my 'need to use up list' and my 'In' will be anything that has a short use by or is outside our normal staples.
Yesterday
IN : 0
Out : Lots of left over bits of veg from the fridge, some out of date egg noodles and some freezer burned chicken all made into a stirfry.
