In - 1 x treacle and ginger cake batter (the other was cooked for later)
The remainder of the beef joint cooked at New Year, it will end up as part of a pie
    Out - 0

Still using up items in the fridges.

Does anyone else seem to spend their life living on leftovers and trying to be creative with them?

After posting the contents of my freezer space this morning, this afternoon I emptied, cleaned, re-organised and  repacked my main pantry cupboard. There is a lot here that was either bought, or given to us for Christmas. But there is also a lot of duplicates 🙃. My partner eats the crackers with cheese, but he obviously doesn't think about what he might have left at home, so buys more when he is at the shops . See how many packets of crackers we have!! The fridge is looking better, I can actually see spaces on the shelves. The next thing I have to tackle is a smaller freezer under the fridge. I use it for all my half used packets, plus that little bit of casserole or soup I made that ended up as a leftovers. It has three drawers so I'm pretty sure there would be enough for several days without having to open the other freezers.

With this new lockdown we're both shielding. DH is taking this new variant very seriously indeed, He remembers working in the late 1960's when there was an horrendous F&M outbreak in Cheshire and Lancashire. Last night he was talking about the aftermath and how it affected people - he never wants to experience that again.

Enough depression  - on a lighter note I've made 4 x cake batter mixes this morning, cooked one and froze three. That took 16 eggs, meringues this afternoon and then hopefully something to do with egg yolks

    In: 3 x cake batters
Out: probably sausages, and leftover marmalade steamed pudding.

I continued my inventory for food cupboards today. It is very satisfying work-empty, wipe down, dry, replace everything in date order 😊.
Today I worked on our smaller pull-out larder, which is mostly sauces, spices, oils, spreads etc.
    It contained:
2 open pkt of lasagne /canelloni sheets, and 1unopened
2 boxes of churro mix powder. Not sure what I am going to do with these. They were part of  teenage son's Christmas present in 2019, but we weren't impressed with results, so only used twice
3 part-used bottles of maple syrup
1 unopened bottle of golden syrup
1 unopened tin golden syrup 😑,
    2_packets Angel Delight
12_sachets Schwartz marinade powders (bought unthinkingly by my partner)
6 stir-fry sauce sachets (bought unthinkingly by partner)
    3 bottles vinegar, one unopened
    2 tubs part-used breadcrumbs
    9 Mugshots (😑)
    4 packets quick cook pasta
    3 packets quick cook pasta

3 pkt savoury rice, I think all out of date but fine
    Herb and spice collection
    Oils and gravy granules

Also sorted out a cupboard where I "hide" my sweet treats from the family ,and partner stores the most random purchases. He insists he uses them at work, but the supply never goes down. There was:
19 tins of mackerel in assorted sauces 😱😱😱😱
3 boxes of bags of quick-boil  rice
2 boxes of prawn crackers, old
    Box of Smash potato .
Tin of baked beans with sausages
    Jar of red pesto
    Jar of korma spice paste
    Just so random.😱

And,my fault (and I am not sure what I am going to do with them):
2 out of date pkt of Ryvita. I haven't eaten Ryvita  since I stopped doing SW a couple of years ago, so out of date. I have left them in the kitchen side to remind me to try them over the next few days ....
5 boxes of SW Hi fi bars, and 2 boxes with a couple of bars ,again, out of date. They are also sitting on the side making me feel bad .

    Binned today:
    2 twin-pkt of granola bars
very dried up out garlic powder
About 2 tablespoons forgotten custard powder
3_sachets of cheese sauce powder expired end 2015
Very old, opened bottle of apple cider vinegar
A few sheets of gluten free lasagne sheets, leftovers of a pkt bought for a dinner party 4 years ago
3 bottles nearly empty, very sticky and old bottles of ice cream toppings

Think I just have the cereal cupboard to sort tomorrow. Phew!

On the plus side, food has been consumed today 😂 (and I plan on editing these lists as I run down supplies).
With 4 kids home at the moment, out was:
small tin baked beans, tin of tomato soup, garden peas (to be replaced), 2 pkt mango, lime and coconut chicken fillets, scraps in the bottom of a bag of short grain rice, scraps of basmati rice, small tin of pineapple, 2 pkt of Angel Delight (years old!!)
Feels so good to have done this .Can do lots of meal planning now, and shop from home 😊
