Still living on leftovers and trying to be creative, I'm afraid no pasta or rice here as DH is of an age where he says they have no taste and still thinks they are 'foreign food'3 -
zafiro1984 said:Unfortunately, the hens are laying faster than I can use the eggsWhen I get an egg glut, I make a large omelette or bowl of scrambled eggs flavoured with fresh herbs, let it cool and feed it back to my hens. It might seem a bit like cannibalism but they really love it and it’s a fantastic source of healthy protein for them.5

Thanks CJ for the suggestion of too many eggs - appreciated
Over the last 24months I've cut back from over 650 hens to just 58 which are laying at 60-65% due to current light levels but I still get over a tray a day, hence all the cake batter. Problem should be solved from Monday as I'll start to put out the eggs at the gate again. I usually have no eggs left by lunchtime which sometimes can be a totally different problem!!!4 -
Got some oxtail yesterday at the butchers so put it into the slow cooker with loads of veg (bought prepared as wanted to get it cooked yesterday rather than having to keep it in the fridge and didn't really have time to peel and chop loads of veg). Unfortunately it didn't quite work like that as ended up cooking it for 15 hours and turning it off when I got up for the loo about 4am! It just wasn't cooked after 8 or even 9 hours when we went to bed!
So today:
In - 2 x 2 large portions of oxtail stew; 2 x 2 portions of LO fish pie from last night
Out - coconut milk for Goan vegetable curry tomorrow night

Last night Out: some puff pastry and stilton for beef mince pie.
Today Out: 1x Caldo Verde for work tomorrow, 1x courgette and rice soup for today, 4x trout fillets, enough for dinner and leftovers.
In: 0, but moved a few things from shed freezer to kitchen one, ready for next week. It's good for the soul to walk with your soles on the soil.4 -

Joedenise:- I love oxtail but usually can't find it, I've asked the local butcher but he says there's no call for it. Maybe it's where I live?

Dinner today was the last of the veggie lasagne from the freezer, with a side of steamed veg - the last courgette & a few more of the Christmas veg box carrots. I'm still chuckling that the OH who supposedly despises eggplant, has now had three portions of the lasagna that has slices of grilled eggplant in it & loved it every time!
