No (last) weekend local shopping purchases. Just two small food items by somebody who occasionally shops for me from town that I rarely visit.
  • Out: 2 quorn burgers and 4 beef burgers, some sweetcorn
In: Last few basil leaves from my plants

Used up: a couple of oldish potatoes made into potato salad

Mini challenge for this month (for me) is:-

Using up any food stocks acquired before September 1st. These consist of those still as originally purchased, freezer recipes made and anything free. Will aim for 100; just a random figure.

    Results for September 2018 :-

41 out of 100 used up. (Freezer recipes consisted of one or more portions each time but were recorded as 1 when all were had. Also, anything purchased again/made again/foraged again was not included in the overall result).

    Stayed within food budget.

Two freezer drawers full from 4 (same as the end of August 2018).

Fridge and store cupboard contents are quite full.

I'm trying to actively eat up things that have been languishing ... in the past few days I've managed to get rid of:

A whole Fray Bentos pie, eaten in one sitting as half a FB pie's a bit of a s0d to reheat.
A pack of chicken in a marinade I picked up at half price in July and froze.
A tin of whole cherry tomatoes (2 more of the bugg4hs to go still), bought on a whim when they were "3 for £1" at a Coop I wandered into.
A tin of pears; picked up two dented tins at 38p apiece many months ago.
A cheap plain sponge cake mix.

These things I will never, ever, buy again.....

I also saw the end of a bag of frozen chicken breasts by cooking them all with a jar of marinade sauce I was given... but half of that's gone back into the freezer as I only ate half of it when fresh.
