Eating out of the freezer and cupboards challenge - part two

Today I had 2 leftover slices from hm pizza for lunch, together with a hm courgette-spinach soup from homegrown courgette, which was made and frozen last September with a lump of the weird spinach thrown in.
The homemade pizza is more 'home-assembled', as I buy pizza pastry, add tomato-something (whatever I have: passata, chopped, puree), 3 different types of cheese I had in the fridge, a slices of ham I shredded, some herbs from various packages.
Last night I made a fried rice dish (nasi goring) with the last packet of fried rice spices, bbd 131217, and some of the frozen edamame beans that were a womble last August.Are you wombling, too, in '22? € 58,96 = £ 52.09Wombling in Restrictive Times (2021) € 2.138,82 = £ 1,813.15Wombabeluba 2020! € 453,22 = £ 403.842019's wi-wa-wombles € 2.244,20 = £ 1,909.46Wombling to wealth 2018 € 972,97 = £ 879.54Still a womble 2017 #25 € 7.116,68 = £ 6,309.50Wombling Free 2016 #2 € 3.484,31 = £ 3,104.590 -

So far this month, my freezer challenge to use up 4 batch cooked recipes has reduced to 17 portions. Stopped myself yesterday from more food shopping by choosing something else to do (i.e. made something similar from "stores" and stayed in to do a gardening task).0

Can I join in again it's been almost a year since I last posted and I've three large freezers brimming with food.
The first freezer is full of home made ready meals, both main dishes, side dishes, puddings, as well as things for lunch. I knew I would be in hospital last month for about two weeks so I made lots and lots of 'ready' meals all of which had instructions on how to cook them for my non-cook DH. I also knew I would have at least eight weeks recovery at home before I would be back to normal. I'm busy working my way through them but in my enthusiasm I rather made too many meals.
The second and largest freezer contains uncooked meat and fish. I'm not too concerned about this one as I usually get my meat by the carcass and I have a yearly cycle of what to get and when. At the moment it's has 2 x venison and loads of pheasant all home shot, turkeys which I rear for Christmas all joined, a pig which was a swap for a couple of large turkeys. the lamb is quite low but I do a turkey swap for that in September. No beef or chicken as we use venison and turkey instead.
The third freezer has everything else, bread, milk, veg and fruit, and things I have bought thinking it was a bargain.
I need to work my way through the first freezer to make room before I have to freeze all the surplus fruit and veg which usually starts in June/July. Plus I need to work my way through the third freezer just to use up what's in there and to make more sense of its contents.
The cupboards:- well that's another tale but you could probably guess they are overflowing.
I want to cut back on what I have. My daughter thinks I could go for at least six months to a year on what I have instore and when she visits as does our son they go home laden with food.
I need to stop buying or at least only get what I need to make use of what I have. I'm going to limit the amount of spends on food each week and try to think laterally and more creatively on how to use what I already have.
One last thing - What do you do with cupboards when they are empty????0 -

Welcome back, I was hoping all went well with the op:)
Your stores sound pretty much like mine, I take something out, turn it into a meal of some sorts which means spares to freeze.... Since January I've been staggering my shops rather than weekly I set the bar at not more often than every 8 days but with the same "weekly budget", though mainly I've been managing 10 days (there is just me so less of an issue if I run out of something) and it is actually working really well as I actually have some space in my freezers & cupboards ( not much mind you but it's progress :rotfl::rotfl:)
Empty cupboards - don't see the point of them it's what they are there for :rotfl::rotfl:0
