At last, I can see the bottom of a drawer... Just in time as I picked some elderflowers this week, ready to make cordial next weekend and froze them in a bag. We also had a turkey pie (no prizes for how long that has been there!) last night and some lamb chops the night before.Save £12k in 2025 #2 I am at £4863.32 out of £6000 after May (81.05%)

OUT a large turkey breast to be cooked and used for sandwiches etc, small piece of gammon. Cooked apple and some blackberries, I really must start to use up the blackberries before the next lot is due to be picked. I've tried jam in the past but they don't seem to have a good pectin level - any ideas?

Sufflok Lass Elderflowers- I used to make sorbet with them when we were in Kent but here in Hants they are pathetic.0 -

Blackberry and apple jelly always seems to work well http://www.bbc.co.uk/food/recipes/bramblejelly_13698 this recipe is very much the one my friend uses. Me I use my surplus to make bramble vodka or gin - ideal time to start with your frozen berries, as will be lovely by Autumn
I think bramble gin will be the way to go as I'm on a diet and jam may be a tad too calorific. Is bramble gin just gin, brambles and sugar a bit like sloe gin? A small occasional tot (or maybe a little more frequent) should suffice.
I actually saw the bottom of the chest freezer today where all my uncooked meat lives, but then everything caved in and it disappeared
OUT another 2 small pieces of venison steak.

caronc's quoteYes just like sloe gin though tad less sugar than sloes unless the brambles are very tart so practically a health food LOL . Lovely as a tot or diluted with soda or fizzy water and lots of ice
Sounds really nice, I'll just have to get on and make some.
I had to login today and it's come up with the new style forum, I can't seem to get to grips with it. Does anyone know how to get to the old green and white one?
