So an end of day recap on the To Do list - key things I needed to do are done, so that's good. Ironing not got around to - the day has flown by. I will do it shortly though as DS's fave t-shirt is in the pile and he wants to wear that tomorrow.

Field Test at the Opticians was all good and seems my eye problem continuation may well be because they didn't give tell me that they had changed the contact lens prescription in one eye and forgot to send out the card with it on to me. Great. I'll try the new power tomorrow and fingers crossed will be seeing normally again soon!

Financials - not even worth reporting tonight as I've not done anything there. Falling off the wagon a bit, though it's because I've been prioritising work and juggling too many things generally at the moment.

You know what it's like when you start reading a forum and 2 hours later you wonder where the time has gone...that's me that is :rotfl:

Hope everyone has had a good day. Hoping for sunshine tomorrow as we hit the road for a day out.

    Good evening

Another busy day here and tomorrow DS has an appointment with the Orthodentist - the letter was addressed to the wrong house, so we didn't get that and a reminder phone message today was the first I knew about it. A quick shifting of work into next week means we can make it. Phew!

DS's IEP meeting is being booked into the new term - should have that date sorted by the end of this week.

Paid my tax bill today too, so that's out of the way until January.

    Financials:
    - bank account checked - payment to the CC went out
    - freepostcodelottery (both) - checked
    - Nectar adpoints - new week, available ads all done and 38 pts
    - Nectar Canvass - must make time to get back onto these
    - Nectar Search - off the blocks for July with 6/100
    - Nectar card - up at £70.31. That is what I normally get in a year to November, so Christmas turkey and food is now covered. :T Was aiming for £120 this year - surveys have to be my friend now :D
    - Inbox Pounds - up a little at £5.71
    - Qmee - no advance since Saturday, still on £1.50 in the pot

I had a No Spend Day today too :T. This month is turning out to be expensive with extras like the Sat Nav and dog training, and essential annuals like the boiler service, house insurance and internet security renewal. Thankfully August is quieter (2 birthdays, no annual bills) and I need just one more billable day booked and delivered this month to come in on average - a bit of a miracle for July really, plus I've got 40% of billable work booked against my target for August with some more in the pipeline. It's looking pretty good. I'm sure they'll be some 'no work' days during the school hols, so we'll use those to go out. Cheap things like finding a different country park or rambling route to walk the dogs, that usually cost me an ice cream for DS if it's nice weather.

With no holiday booked next month and no childcare fees, the finances look like they will balance out ok. There will be extra fuel costs with DS going to my Mum's on some days, but as the mpg is returning higher than previous car, that shouldn't be too drastic. DS does need a few new things for school - shirts (neck grown), school bag and probably shoes but a tricky one if I spend a fortune on Clark's and the Podiatrist appointment then turns up and he needs something different. Hmm...will have to wait that one out and hope.

Spends yesterday were limited to a round of cups of tea (think it was £3.70), which was heavily outweighed by a contribution to fuel costs.

Hope everyone has had a good day today. Sun has been shining again, aside from a shower early evening. No the grass and hedge still aren't cut :rotfl:

Answers not necessary to that one :D

  • I've started doing surveys on nectar today and will go watch a few ads now. I never even thought of saving points for food for Christmas but you have just put that thought in my mind and that is what I will do. I always used them before for Argos at Christmas but kids have grown out of Argos gifts so it will be for Sainsburys now. No sainsburys near here but one about a mile from work so I can use that. This is what I love about MSE, all the ideas you get from everyone else. Thanks for that x

You're welcome MiT - most of my points this year have come from the advert watching, surveys and the Search function. Might be other ways to spend points too - they do the double up as well sometimes for spending on certain categories - I got all this from Moomin. :D

    * * *

Pleased to report DS got on well at his Orthodentist appointment and no need for the jaw surgery the dentist thought he might need - thank goodness. He's lucky it's mild and his teeth alignment and spacing are really good anyway.

I've been busy with work but not billable stuff today.

Had a fab lesson with the dog trainer, though the heavens opened 10 mins in and we did just half an hour instead of the hour - free of charge. The slip lead I already have is good enough, so no need to purchase the one he recommended - it's pretty similar just a less slippy material. I'm to practise what he taught me using the slip lead and then will phone later in the week to re-arrange a full hour with him next week - hopefully in dry weather :D Really chuffed with having a non-pulling dog for 30 mins - it's a record :rotfl:

    Financials then:
    - bank account checked
    - freepostcodelottery (both) checked
    - nectar adpoints - no addition, still on 38
    - nectar canvass - no advance
    - nectar search - up at 10/100
    - Inbox pounds - up at £5.85
    - Qmee - another 10p, £1.60 in the pot

CC online is showing the £540 payment and £3,190 balance. Starting to see the finish line :j

Hope everyone has had a good day. :)
