Hi Ali
Have missed you today. Hope all is okay. I've had a day off and have probably not made the most of it. I've been on the phone and internet most of the day sorting out appointments and online things (I've had to change a few things linked to my old work emails) so have been dipping in and out.
Been looking at shoes for DD. The physio recommended the kickers again that she had last year. Although they are expensive they have lasted the whole year and now she's my size I'm happy to take any cast offs.. she'd like something more girly this year and I know how it is for youngsters, but joints are so important. (Her other condition is persistent femoral anteversion).
I think I'm off to look that up. Anyway hope you have a good weekend. I think I need a cleaning challenge soon

Evening all
SS I'll have a think on the cleaning front...could do an ironing challenge tomorrow as after 3 loads of washing tonight, there's quite a pileHousework is all done after the mad dash round Wednesday night and yesterday morning awaiting the heating engineer that then didn't turn up..... I'll have to do it all again next week in time for Friday :rotfl:
Ooh post grad course sounds interesting..we'll have to keep each other going.
Good to hear how your DD is getting on with the shoe inserts. DS wears Clarks shoes or trainers, so hopefully we'll get a steer soon on what's best for him. I must reply to a school email about the IEP meeting and get that set up. Just heard 2 really good teachers that DS has done so well under their guidance, are leaving this term as well. He is happy about his new form teacher for next year so that is good.
INOD - Local college doesn't do ACCA, but if I do AAT, then there are exemptions from F1, 2 and 3 of ACCA, so my thinking was AAT then the final bit of ACCA.

Rinse and repeat day number ? - a really busy work day, all good. Business banking done and more work booked in too. I am shattered and can't wait to not have to get up with the alarm tomorrow - first time in 2 weeks :T
3 washing loads done and dried - taken in just as spots of rain fell. We're due a wet day tomorrow so that's me going to town to get the Euros present and opticians appointment for the field test. I am still having a problem with my eye but have got used to it.
Financials:
- bank account checked
- freepostcodelottery (both) checked
- Nectar adpoints - no new to do, on 63 points
- Search & Canvass - no advance
- Nectar card value - £69.83 still
- Inbox Pounds - up a tad at £5.47
- Qmee - another 10p and up at £1.40
CC statement is available online, so next job is to set up a payment to go out to that on Monday - for £540 - that'll bring it to a full £5k paid off of it since October.
My coins tin has £60 in it - I've been building that up as a change float for car booting and we must do one soon. The float and money made will go off the debt, so that should be a nice chunk when I get that far.
I need to input the electricity meter reading into the supplier website as well - that and gas are already in my spreadsheet (and nicely low with being away last weekend), but I seem to be so busy with everything recently just not getting on top of things. A new list is needed
Missed the window to cut the grass and finish the hedge trim in the dry, so that will be a priority at some point next week. Oh, car needs cleaning too - still got a freebie valet left at the dealership but that's only on Sundays and we're not around this one. It can wait in that case, saves my water bill and energy.
Hope everyone has had a good day - I think I'll be hitting bed quite soon!Back on the DFW Wagon:

DS is a lucky lad to have you.
My DS's headmistress called me up in primary 1 and said she thought he may be autistic but she had had someone have a look at him in class and it was obvious he wasn't. Over the years I have had many problems with him and have had school psychologists involved who have also said he is just very immature and there was nothing wrong with him. His socialising skills were really bad until he moved schools but they have improved massively. He is still quite a loner but I reckon it's habit now. The new school has improved him no end. He is at last growing up a bit I reckon5 Year plan. April 2020 to June 2025- CC and mortgage free by time I'm 60
Currently CC £23,674.36 /£14,895.41/£14315.42
Mortgage £28,214.65/ £26,254.71/ £25,746.43
By end 2020 I want CC at £ 19,000.00.
By end 2021 I want CC at £10,000.000 -
Thanks MiT - it's so hard being a parent at times.
Your story is the opposite to ours - DS was having a terrible time at his first school and the head wasn't interested. So I called the local council and a lady went out to observe him - she phoned me to say she thought he was on the Autistic spectrum, most likely Aspergers. She was brilliant, as was our GP and then the Paediatricians. School wasn't really helpful until he moved to his current one at 11. They've been totally marvellous and his communication, social skills, confidence and friendships have come on so much. Academically he's a geek for sureHe's also very quiet, so easily went under the radar as the problems didn't seem obvious in class, but at break times and lunch times he was alone, got picked on and was seen as incredibly sensitive.
Once everyone realised it was Aspergers things got noticed - the literal side, the lack of eye contact, him not knowing if he was being spoken to unless the teacher said his name specifically, unable to retain a friendship/socialise/hold a conversation. He's so much better than he was, I am very grateful for that. I'd always put the pain down to growing painsjust because I had bad ones when I was young...but his were in joint areas not mid arm or thigh like mine were.
I just want to get him set up to win for his chosen subjects and exams though the school do resist children having laptops as far as possible, but having read how messy handwriting is marked down and the fact in most tests at school he doesn't complete the paper because he can't write quickly, then I think we have a good enough case to pursue it.

Hi Ali
My son is also hyper-mobile and like you I just thought his pains were due to growing pains.
The doctor said if he had a referral to hospital it might take months so we pay privately for osteopathy (his back is his main problem) as and when needed. He had a course over 5mths initially and now we just go back when things are painful.
I don't think my DS has it as severely as a lot of children so he manages mainly with exercise - in the 6 weeks holiday he was always in agony and then when school started back it would carry on for a few weeks. He is at college now and goes to football twice a week.
Have you heard about The Hypermobility Syndromes Association?
They have a really good forum and I know there have been many threads about pens and computers etc.

Also maryhinge who's thread is called un-hinged has a daughter of 10 who has severe hypermobility. She has also fought with the school for a laptop so it might be worth 'speaking' to her.0 -
Am popping in and out of MSE today but should really get on with decluttering - I think I'm going to hide the ipad. DD has produced 3 black bags of clutter from her room already! I'm way behind.
Hope the ironing and list is going well - I've not even finished washing yetOSWL (start 13st) by 30Jun20 6/10

Cant find the right lead for the springer online, dead duck there at the moment
Off to town now for opticians and Euros
Hmm...a few can be crossed off, so not too bad
Ironing to come later, outside stuff having to wait due to rain.
Financials - some done - will update later on.
Well done to your DD and thanks EE for your post - really useful and have looked at the HMS website and started reading there.Back on the DFW Wagon:

The other thing to consider for your DS is a scribe.
