It is INOD and I'm booking work into September already  I'll have clients asking about my Christmas business hours soon :rotfl:

Apologies in advance tonight as I'm sounding like a broken record at the moment! Really busy work day again and evening with phone calls in advance of up and coming deliverables. I am doing everything to create an average income month, rather than coasting through what is normally a quieter period.

Such was my enthusiasm to get on with work this morning, I forgot to phone the bank at 9am to tell them a capital payment had been sent . Remembered at lunchtime, so that is now done. The long 5-7 day wait for the new interest figure has begun again!

    Other financials:
    - bank account checked
    - freepostcodelottery (both) - checked
    - Nectar adpoints - nothing new to add to the 37 pts
    - Nectar canvass - still not getting anywhere with this
    - Nectar Search - a new month and will start on that tonight
    - Nectar card - still £69.83
    - Inbox Pounds - up at £5.24
    - Qmee - another 10p - £1.20 in the pot to be transferred

Springy was pulling today, I need to get a specific lead for him I think - the same as what the trainer was using and how he used it. Another cost.

Had a brief look online at Sat Navs, looking at about £100 though . Will see if there's a good deal with cashback.

Monthly use and pay off CC has rolled over, full payment set up to go on 14th July.

House Insurance is due this month as well. I think I should end the month with £9,050. £3,200 for debt, £800 in the Reg Saver and £5,050 Emergency Fund. Happy with that. :)

    Hope everyone's had a good day. :)
    Back on the DFW Wagon:

    CC - £3,300 on 0% til 04/2020
    CC - £4,500 on 0% til 02/2019
    Loan - £12,063.84 as at 4/1/18
  • All looking good there Ali. £30 for dog trainer  I suppose it will be worth it though id doggy behaves afterwards
5 Year plan. April 2020 to June 2025- CC and mortgage free by time I'm 60
    Currently CC £23,674.36 /£14,895.41/£14315.42
    Mortgage £28,214.65/ £26,254.71/ £25,746.43
    By end 2020 I want CC at £ 19,000.00.
By end 2021 I want CC at £10,000.00

Thanks MiT. Yep, dog training isn't cheap unless it's in a group which we did for puppy training, but then that didn't solve this problem either! £30 is about half of what "behaviourists" charge I believe. He's pulled me over a couple of times in the past - so it's cheap compared to suffering more injuries :rotfl::eek:

    * * *

£3.50 spent on hospital car parking this morning for DS's appointment. He has a diagnosis of Hypermobile joints to add to his Aspergers one. Not surprised really given what he can bend in the wrong direction, just it's taken 6 years to get this specific appointment. So now onto appointments for podiatrist and physio. I've requested an appointment with his SEN Mentor at school as need to update his IEP anyway. A good job I am self-employed really.

Bumped into someone I used to work with 25 years ago  We don't change at all really - just greyer, wrinkles and less energy :rotfl:

Managed to deliver some billable work and book a good bit in for next week. :T

    Financials:
    - bank account checked - £11.48 interest earnt :T
    - freepostcodelottery (da) - checked
    - Nectar - not done a jot on any of those as yet
    - Inbox Pounds - up a tad to £5.38
    - Qmee - another 5p added :)

I've done some washing and got that on the line at the moment - it's lovely and warm. Watched the last point in Murray's match that saw him out of Wimbledon. :(

Caught up on half the housework - just downstairs to do. Heating engineer is here at 7.30am and will be servicing the boiler, but looking at the kitchen tap, bathroom tap and plug and also the non-working fire in the lounge - so I need to have a clean and tidy house.

Food shop needs to be done too otherwise I'll be in the doghouse for not having a bagel to give DS for breakfast. Need to put a budget in for July - 5 weekly shop days, so I'll set that at £125 and add to sig later.

A busy evening ahead here. Tomorrow I must get month end accounts finished and printed. So much extra to do from being away for the weekend. Either that or I'm slowing down. :rotfl:

Hope everyone has had a good day. :)

  • I admire you for being self employed. I would be bankrupt as I would have zero motivation to do anything

I'm really impressed with your figures. What a great position to be in.

I would love to be self employed, but like MIT I am not sure I would have the motivation to get going.

:rotfl: It's motivating when it's how the bills get paid  But going SE is where the debt came from, so it was scary, risky, challenging and exciting at the same time. My 'salary' now is a fair bit less than when I was employed, but I have a much better work/life balance overall and can be there for DS.

I used Wenta initially for advice and support, did a couple of free half day tax/running a business seminars. Think that was the most complicated bit, but it's second nature now.

Figures look ok, but I've got another bill looming - the computer Internet Security renewal is due. Like last year, they want to charge £20 more by auto-renew, so I've switched that off and will wait until nearer the run out date and purchase it as a new customer instead. :D It worked last year, it will work this year too. :D

Ooh, heard back from the local Uni today about the AAT course - I have an interview on 22nd July :j however my qualifications and business experience are clearly not enough and I have to hand write a 300 word essay on what the role of an accountant is and why I want to be one to take with me. Err...right. I think it might be cheaper and quicker to do it via online. I'll spend some time looking into it as faffing about isn't my style and I'm not really interested in jumping through hoops just to get on a course I have to pay full price for.

Food shop done! Big one with dog food bag, 3 different meats (mostly for batch cooking and various dishes), a few household items and generally a re-stocking of basic things we've run out of. Over budget at £35.87 but I'm not worried as we've enough dog food and meat for the rest of the month now. With school hols starting from the 18th, I also picked up a couple of items to get that stock building up.

Not much progress on the downstairs housework except the cloakroom is now spotless (until DS uses it :rotfl:) and the lounge is tidy. Let's hope the engineer is as half asleep as I am that early in the day and won't notice :D

Washing all dried, in and folded/put away. Springy still pulling - I am not winning the battle right now :rotfl:

Blimey, nearly 10pm already  Time for a cuppa before DS hits bed, swiftly followed by me at this rate. :D

I apologise if this sounds harsh but the research involved in writing 300 words is going to be very little effort, nor would I call a piece of writing that short an "essay". I presume you are not wanting to take the course to become an actual accountant but to further the services you can offer as a business. However, as far as the university is concerned it is recruiting future accountants whom they would hope to have done a little research into the role before embarking upon a vocational course regardless of their previous qualifications.

Thanks, that looks really useful. I've just done about a year of Sage inputting and have Sage 2011 now on my laptop plus the training course. I also have a few accounting exams from a few years back. I'd love to do some bookkeeping but not sure how to get sufficient experience.

Good news about the AAT course. Could you find something on line to plagiarise and take with you? Is it much cheaper for the online course? I'd prefer a class course as I think meeting up with the other students can be a benefit and much less likely to get distracted, but the online ones can be much more convenient and cheaper

Ps. Why the spam at 889?.
