Sorry Ali. I've just realised the actual definition of plagiarising, I should have said paraphrase. :)

I see where you're coming from Alex, just I had to write a side of A4 as part of the application which covered why I wanted to attend the course and what I wanted to do with the qualification, so it does feel like they haven't read that and am duplicating effort.

INOD - it'll be another string to my bow and gives me future options to divert and/or widen my career/business. I also enjoy the Accounting side of my business, funnily enough many of the wider family are or were Accountants or working in an area of finance (pension actuary, bank managers, etc). SE was pretty much the only family-friendly way I could work close to FT and be there for DS outside of school hours, made harder because of his ASD and no family support for childcare or Before/After School Clubs due to village school and 95% going by school buses.

    * * *

Today didn't go as planned. Heating engineer didn't turn up and that's now rescheduled for Friday 11th. Not a massive issue, though I was finishing cleaning the kitchen at 7am and steam mopping floors so the housework is complete which is a bonus. :D

I did get monthly accounts all done, printed and filed - just as the black ink decided to run out . Typical, so had to get a replacement cartridge at £14.99 - at least it's part business expense.

Looked at Sat Navs whilst out and then researched those further online. Ended up buying one and went through Quidco for cashback. Big spend with the bean bag type mount - £164.98  Some will go through the business as it'll be mainly for that anyway. It has got free lifetime maps updates but the cost is pushed up by having the traffic update function - the bit that re-routes due to delays/accidents etc - just like the one I borrowed last weekend and worked so well on that score.

DS's school have been straight back in touch to organise a meeting for reviewing his IEP with the added diagnosis and his Mentor met with him today to cover a few immediate things. They are excellent, biggest thing is how he goes forward with the writing side now - slow and untidy - I may have to fight for him to have a laptop at school and for exams, but I will if it means he will be equal come exam time. :) Found myself quite upset about it all today as I just don't know what the future holds for him in terms of employment with the tiredness and pain and I've noticed his speech has become more mumbled over the last year or so and that could also be part of the same thing...or just a hormonal teenage norm. Ibuprofen helps a bit but not totally.

    Financials then:
    - bank account checked
    - freepostcodelottery (both) checked
    - Nectar adpoints - up at 63
    - Nectar Search and Canvass - uh oh! 'Nuff said!
    - Inbox Pounds - up a tad at £5.43
    - Qmee - another 5p and £1.30 in the post

New survey in from P!necone which I've done, so that'll be points to convert to £3 for PayPal. :D

Think that's all the news today. I've got big work days tomorrow and Monday and we're off up to the East coast for the day on Sunday - new Sat Nav will get it's first outing. :)

Hope everyone has had a good day - it's been hot and sunny this morning here, then cloudy and muggy since. Did get one tea break outside this morning in it! :)

Business Management is a cover-all for what I do. Nothing exciting, but found a niche due to the recession which is thankfully how it took off. It's evolving and growing, but I also need to change with it - hence that needs a little bit of investment. Just glad I sold the sports car and have enough to pay off the debt, have the emergency fund and am ready for the next work step.

Post 889 was someone spamming the forum about earning extra money and adding a website to look at (american). Pile of poop and well done MSE peeps for taking out. :D

Send them an email explaining this, such institutions are rather large and all too often are rather disorganised. :)

As for your son's handwriting, unless this has something to do with his health, I'd recommend a nice fountain pen and plenty of time spent learning how to properly form letters before writing in cursive. If the inclination is not there, tell him girls like good handwriting. Well, they do if the amount of women who have complemented me in regard to my "beautiful handwriting" is anything to go by. ;)

Leave SS alone ;) :rotfl: :p . I'm still thinking about what to do - I'd prefer the class environment I think and I'd keep on track with the work, where as online is cheaper but not sure I'd find the time to fit it in, rather than having to prioritise it with attending the Uni. 300 words isn't much at all actually - I could type something up and just copy it out by hand then.

:rotfl: I used to love writing with a decent fountain pen, most likely not as good quality as you're used to Alex ;)

Sadly, it's to do with his health - nearest I can think of is someone having arthritis in their hand and wrist, so to grip is painful and similarly the wrist with hand movement. Then it inflames and gets worse - muscles have to work harder to compensate for the joints being over flexible.

He's seen an OT before for it, however her advice was a different pen - the pens they have to use at school (one type - B3rol) are what I'd describe as 'sticky' and I'm going to push now for if he can be allowed to use something that flows better like a rollerball. He's left handed too - so doesn't hold a pen in the same way that a right handed person does either. Just to complicate matters ;)

    :o That's me told ...

Moving swiftly on, I would stick to a classroom based course if I were you. It will be more structured and there will be other students there to discuss lectures and assignments with as well as face to face contact with lecturers. Draw upon your previous experience(s) of university and ask yourself if you could have completed your previous degree(s) without any face to face contact.

:rotfl: The less said about my collection of writing instruments on here (the money SAVING expert) the better, I think. ;);):o

If any school my son ever attends insists children write with one of those Berol pens, I think I'd go so far as to withdraw my son from that particular place of education. :o Why on earth children in senior school are not being told to write with a fountain pen is completely beyond me.

Seriously though, I think a laptop could be the way forward although holding a pen properly requires a very light grip and could possibly prove to be less stress on the hand and wrist than typing?

Nah, life wouldn't be so much fun, Mange tout Rodney, mange tout :rotfl: :):D

Interesting about the pens. We used to use fountain pens at senior school, I can remember spilling the ink many times until I found the cartridges.

DD recently had an appointment with the orthopaedic consultant too and discovered she is very hypermobile, has flat feet and another related condition, which I can't remember off the top of my head. She has off the shelf insoles now while waiting for the bespoke ones but it has made an incredible difference already and doesn't seem to have as much pain when running/walking and this should improve with time too. I didn't think about how it might affect her other joints and perhaps her writing - have always blamed her poor pencil grip, but I think I'll treat her to a new pen this summer. It's worth a try and I think she will enjoy trying it out.

Hope the course goes well, whichever option you choose. I am applying for a postgraduate course, and will need to be incredibly self motivated too. Although there are some classroom sessions too. Good luck whichever option you choose.

    :)

  • Ali I did accounting technicians many years ago. I can't help wondering if you've looked at Acca as an alternative?
