Oh dear at the dogs wrecking the garden but they kind of did you a favour, right? :rotfl: Does Doodle not play fetch? Mind you, my mum has a bjion frise who can't even figure out how to "sit" - she got him when he was 4 & has tried everything but he's just daft as a brush. :rotfl:

My MIL helped us with the hanging baskets and they look all bright and cheerful which is nice, we've surprised ourselves by not accidentally killing them. :o Have also grown some flowers from seed and chilli plants as well which seem to be getting on okay.

Good idea on googling garden shape & direction, will have a look but will have to wait until funds allow (I.e. quite some time). The garden is quite a nice size for a new build as we are on a corner, also meant a bigger driveway. :j I would like to add a sun room at the back of the house and move the patio to the back corner to get the sun longer (not that we have much warm weather in Scotland :rotfl: currently raining and blowing a gale outside in June).

Yes great having a brand new house, we love it - although not so fun chasing the builders to get snags fixed. Also because the house was all shiny we wanted shiny new things to put in it & have no self-discipline. :o We ran out of money quite quickly on that considering the money we needed to borrow to get rid of our old flat.

Ooh that was a bit me,me,me. :rotfl: Mortgage figures looking good, Ali :T

Oooh look at all these visitors!!

Ahoy :D loving the mortgage post! You are a complete inspiration! There is me all excited because I have just repaired my rubber gloves and saved myself £2.50 for the foreseeable ;) :rotfl:

Happy Saturday, hope you get out of work nice and quickly to enjoy this lovely weather!! I might even dare venture more than 20 yards from the toilet with jellytot today to get our moneys worth of this 'mini heatwave' ;) xx

Am home :j and the sun is out good and proper - it clouded over whilst I was at work and I sat worrying that it'd rain and the washing would get wet. Pleased to say it didn't. :)

Lovely to have visitors :j:j and if it boosts others' journeys, even better :j. Whilst it's a bit at odds with the site to post MF stuff on DFW, it's all part of the same journey - getting to be free of owing money to anyone (I'd actually prefer to pay HMRC now and not in the 2 x 6 monthly bills ) and setting myself up for a more secure future, retirement and supporting DS through possibly the most expensive years that will soon be here

sashybo - Doodle is also as daft as a brush :rotfl: She jumps on the spot when I try and teach her fetch..occasionally she'll run towards a thrown ball, usually losing interest and turning back a moment later :rotfl:. Springer won't play on a walk, far too interested in sniffing, he's good at catch/fetch in the garden - does a great skid :rotfl:

:rotfl: Great your plants are alive, you've done much better than me growing from seed - I kill cuttings and even a spider plant - apparently 'no-one can kill those' ahem :o

Your garden size sounds really good, as do your plans. Ashame snags were a pain to get fixed though. Hope you're enjoying the shiney new things too - good point that I hadn't thought about wanting in a new house.

I love hearing about all this stuff - so share away :D

Lilt - That £2.50 saved on gloves is exactly how OPs get made and add up and in turn the interest chivvied away at. Good practise I say :T

Hope you get out with Jelly in the sunshine long enough to enjoy it - I'm off to sit on the sleepers and supervise for a while :rotfl: then chilli for dinner with garlic bread. :)

The sun has been shining in Derbyshire too. :) Not too hot so would have been a great day for dog walking.

Regarding growing plants from seed, I've had excellent results from propagating in the kitchen in small pots (all seeds from the packet together), watering daily. I then transfer them to the greenhouse when they are about 1 1/2" high, into smaller groups before planting properly once the frost has gone and the plants have grown to about 3" high. Hope this helps. :)

Ali - we didn't make it out yesterday at all and despite best intentions today Jellytot has taken herself off to bed 'breezing' - she is really not right bless her. She has been asleep for over an hour and I am reluctant to wake her so am sat quietly on the bed typing and doing some filing.. digitally ;) photos! :D

I am going to start counting up all my moneys saved, and show myself what I can do when I put my mind to it. Today was a loaf of bread baked instead of bought. I will add the *saving* of the cheapest loaf I would have bought, 79p to my running tally, but in reality it probably saved me £5ish on other stuff!!

Big hugs. Enjoy your Sunday!! xx

Lovely to see you MiT - you are doing so well and how you have the energy with everything going on is amazing :T:T

Alex - I've never got any further than trying to get cuttings to sprout in water :o Something new for me to learn as I'd love to plant my garden up with cuttings from Mum's - would save a fortune too :D

Lilty - Been catching up with the poorliness and sleeplessness and MMM :D I knew that one too :rotfl:. Well done Miss Jelly on 3 days and counting :T:T

You're a fab saver and I've still to make my own bread :o. Me thinks a new list of very overdue things to do is needed :)

We had a gorgeously sunny day here yesterday and the DIYers made good progress on the fencing, whilst I quickly cleaned kitchen and utility, ironed the few bits that needed it and had a run on hand washing, wool washing and cleaning cloth washing. Cleared out the utility room too and alot of the study - I have space to move (but not swing a cat :rotfl:). Few more bits went up the loft and even more to the garage for getting rid of.

Took advantage of the sun trap in the garden and sort of sunbathed on a patio chair :rotfl:. Roast dinner and then it was back to prep for today - nothing exciting, just run of the mill work for me and school for DS :). A NS day yesterday, but the car needs fuel - a job for tonight.

    Financials:
    - Bank account checked - £2.17 in from Qu!dco and £100 gone to DS's 6% Reg Saver
    - freepostcodelottery checked
    - Inbox Pounds - up at £13.91
    - Qmee pot at 49p

Tricky decision coming up on next month's mortgage capital payment, as I need to think about money needed for August bills and the lack of income with 2 weeks off. Budget spreadsheet is being fiddled with to see what I work out :)

Bloomin' cold here tonight - I've flicked the heating on :o and max temp tomorrow looks to be 14C . Come on summer, I need to keep my gas bill down :rotfl:

Am sat by wide open windows enjoying the last rays of the sun as my washing dries in the breeze. Saving me a fortune! The rain and clouds never materialised here :j

I am sure you will figure out what is best on the mortgage payment. Just do what you can manage!

And she's now 4 days and counting, and another milestone reached and passed at nursery today. I won't elaborate ;) xxx

Rain arrived at tea time here along with muddy paws on my nice clean floors

:T to 4 days and "the other" :D - hopped over to yours to sanity check my initial thoughts. Great stuff and a big thing to have achieved :j

I've started high and have got the mortgage figure at £900 for July, suspect that might come down as I work out what else needs to be paid for in July, August and September (main knock on effect is Sept) - plus DS's birthday then too.

Been to Sbugs tonight - DS wanted a specific brand cereal, so no choice, but picked up a few Basics items that are cheaper than Ald!. Spent £4.75 and till spits of 1500 points (worth £7.50) on next shop (no min spend) and a £4.50 off £30.

Filled up with fuel at £33.00 - no rogue penny for a change :rotfl:

Swimming cossie has arrived too :j Yet to try on, it does look small though . Probably has alot of lycra or something :rotfl: If it fits, I reckon I can get to the pool on Wednesday :) if it doesn't it's going back and I'll stick with wearing a bikini. That'll clear the pool in no time ;)
