    Afternoon Diary,

It's been a busy day and a spendy one, but I feel reasonably well, have been taking plenty of rest breaks and sticking to the mindfulness mantra of 'thinking in the moment' so one thing at a time and it seems to have worked and got me through the day. :)

I also put all my worries into 10 mins and wrote them down - the same thing keeps cropping up 'worry I never have enough time to do x,y and z', yet when I do things it doesn't take as long as I think it will. Something for the psychologists maybe :D

    From my 3 lists yesterday:
    Town
    - work bits purchased
    - e-cig problem sorted and a stock of on sale juice purchased which will last 3-4 months - spent £19
    - shopping frenzy in Sparks & Mencer :o I now have a nice stock of new undies and a couple of new bras and a sale (£12 to £7.50) jumper that is a direct replacement for one I binned as had a hole in it and was well worn :o - cost £48 less the donation £5 voucher, so spent £43. I'll update sig as am keeping track of clothes spends again this year.
    - £1.60 on car parking

    Work
Everything on that list I've done too, so am really pleased I'm up to date and ready for tomorrow. :)

    Home/DS
This list grew alot  but everything ready for DS's return to school, including his homework. I need to email a couple of people but can do that tonight.

Washing all put away and no ironing :j, bins put out for collection, dishwasher emptied, had to pay £1.11 for a letter addressed to DS online , paid the T@lkT@lk bill as it landed for the 10% speedy discount saving £1.10 and somehow seem on top of everything :D

    Financials:
    - bank account checked
    - freepostcodelottery checked
    - Nectar card - no change
    - Inbox Pounds - up at £3.87
    - Qmee - picked up another 11p, up at 35p in the pot :)

Checked Quidco for another work purchase and got some cashback tracking there, as well as some for the washing machine. Good to have these little bits dripping in :)

Hope everyone has had a good first day back. I'm probably going to do the first food shop of the year tonight so I can get milk for my first day back in the office tomorrow. :) Another update later to come in that case!
    Back on the DFW Wagon:

    CC - £3,300 on 0% til 04/2020
    CC - £4,500 on 0% til 02/2019

    [FONT=&quot] Hi Ali,

One for the psychologists? I think a lot of us could benefit from a psychologist telling us how to 'brain ourselves up' to be like you. Look at everything you manage and achieve. When you are worrying about everything you have to get done, balance that with an acknowledgement and appreciation of everything you have already got done......and got done 100% and better :) !!

I understand the idea of living in 'the moment.' At first sight it seems a little at odds with long term financial goals but it isn't. I have never heard podcasts on this or anything but in moments of severe worry or panic (almost always to do with work) I have just put down the handheld and thought....I will still be alive in ten minutes and likely nothing will have changed....there won't be a bolt of lightning instantly striking me down. The world will go on and I will have time to consider this properly and decide on what I will do. It could be its something bad to deal with in three days or whatever in which case I can have a beer out of the fridge tonight.....life will be the same. I haven't always been like that and the scuffed wheels on the car still show my agitation at the time of my LBM and everything work gave me at that time, and the maritals etc :o!!

Have a lovely evening Ali :)

    Brogden x

I'm just listening to a program on the radio about mindfulness, very interesting!

Ooh that programme sounds interesting Skinny. It's a simple but seemingly life changing thing - when I'm doing stuff that is second nature (folding washing is a good one) my mind wanders to a worry - in the past or the futre - so as I understand it, it's about consciously bringing my mind back to the task in hand and thinking about that - I add in a positive thought too now as the brain learns quite quickly and am hoping it will help stop most of that wasted energy on worrying.

Then I'm doing this '10 mins a day write your worries down' so they leave my brain and I can forget about them - very similar to doing lists really - frees up head space. :D It's a bit of a LBM.

Brogden - It takes other to point out how much I achieve, as I don't see it myself - the product of never being good enough rearing it's head in a way I'd not thought about before. Usually I only know I've done loads when I'm knackered :rotfl:.

So I've rounded off today with the food shop - was quite a biggie with large dog food bag, packed lunch bits, re-stocking some household items plus a couple of bits for the office. Spent £37.88. Need to break out the work part, but bedtime in 20 mins so will do that tomorrow. Sig updated.

CC statement due to land on Thursday, so I'll be setting up a payment of £280 to that to go next Monday. Ooh Feb will see it drop to less than £1k owing :j

Folding washing is "second nature", it gets left in a basket in this household until the ironing fairy (no, not Mrs. K) picks it up. :rotfl:
