The march to financial freedom

'Tis my 13th year of doing it, my Mum did it before then when it was just 9 , but of course the family has grown over the years with children having children and partners and so on. The oldest is nearly 95, the youngest almost 2 yrs old - 4 generations together.
It's a wonderful day and we've only missed 2 in 36 years due to heavy snow.
Luckily I do have a good sized dining room - it's still a squeeze with no elbow room but a lovely atmosphere, crackers and fun, and it's when we give our Christmas gifts (as 8 come up from the south coast for the day).
I do enjoy doing it, it's just alot of work and has got more challenging the last few years - probably as there have been 2 additions and can't even get all the roast pots into one serving dish or yorkie puds onto one plate now :rotfl:Back on the DFW Wagon:

Why not ask your guests or the DIY ers if any of them have folding chairs you could borrow? Also, DS won't go into a decline if you postpone the cinema trip by a week. Those two things will free up approx four hours.Mortgage at 01.01.14 £119,481.83:eek: today £0 Emergency fund £5.5/5.5k & £200/200 cash.:jWeight 24/02/19 14st 7lb now 12st determined to stop defining myself by my mistakes. Great idea on the chairs - will definitely do that - saves a spend too.
Cinema we'll be taking a risk that it's still showing the following week. It's not the end of the world if we don't see one - can always see 2 films the following week :rotfl: or expect they'll be out for download within a couple of months.

Your early Christmas family get-together sounds great.
However, perhaps next year it would be a good idea for someone else to organise it? Hope you get well soon.
2018 totals:

An early morning entry as the CC statement has landed online and I've done a faster payment and paid off £260 :j £1500 left and 6 more payments to the finishing line :j
Keeping up the key things to help health - eating well (left over beef in a casserole with veg for dinner), sleeping well (hit bed by 10.30pm) and trying not to get stressed or rush.
GP appointment made - 3 weeks away on Mon 29th December  Not much help really, the alternative is an emergency appointment but not with a GP I've seen before and would hit my work schedule, which I don't want to disrupt as it's busy (but not manic) and I've got a plan I am working to.
I delivered all the local Christmas cards last night to get that job out of the way which made me realise I need to fill up with fuel pretty soon.
I've got my eyebrow thread this afternoon inbetween work stuff and then I need to check when the huge turkey needs to start defrosting - it was 88 hours last year (useful to be able to look back in my diary here to find that out :rotfl:). Got to write my list of food needs for Sunday and will start doing bits of prep with getting crockery etc out and washed from tomorrow evening.
Hope everyone's week has started well. I'm off to update my sig, fave bitBack on the DFW Wagon:
