Parking Eye - Aldi

And if you felt really up to it add -
And since you didn't cancel this charge when requested, when POPLA uphold the appeal - a claim for damages in respect of breach of the Equality Act will be raised jointly and severally against Parking Eye and Aldi.

Don't worry, that's in hand0 -
I'm happy to phone Rachel if that's the recommendation but really, I can only see 2 options:
1. They cancel the charge and we continue to feel good about shopping at Aldi
2. They don't cancel the charge, I win at POPLA, feel bad about Aldi and then take up the Equality Act issues and claim for damages0 -
@ Stonker - actually in your case of course naming the driver doesn't matter here - you had to name the driver to re-set the clock anyway!
If you telephone Rachel and she doesn't cancel - again - then I would be inclined to ask to speak to her superior or even write to Head Office - customer services directly.
Our nearest Aldi fortunately does not use PE - however when my OH experienced a serious customer service issue in store (won't go into detail here - but not parking related) - I wrote a complaint directly to head office explaining our distress and that we were regular customers put off from shopping there again. The result of my letter prompted the Area Manager for South West coming to our house to discuss the issues raised - we accepted the apology and received a generous supply of money off vouchers for use. Staff at the store were all re-trained in procedures.
My OH was then greeted personally in the store by the store manager and opened a new till for service - which was quite amusing.0 -

You know what, a few years back, I did a course on customer service. If you ask people to give you an example of good customer service, they will nearly always give an example where something went wrong and the company then exceeded the customer's expectations. Aldi have had this opportunity but seem to want to shoot themselves in the foot my refusing to cancel the charge that will only get sucessfully appealed against anyway. I really can't se the sense.
Your idea sounds good though.
As far as Rachel is concerned though, I really have no idea what 'other options' she has in mind. Why not just put them in a letter (or even put then here?)0 -
I think she likes to speak to the person and then, by using aggressive tactics, tries to browbeat the customer into submission. That's the impression I had when I spoke to her. In my case it wasn't over a specific parking incident. I was asked to phone Aldi after I had emailed them with these questions:-
(1) Are you happy that Parking Eye are taking several of your customers to court because of supposed parking "violations" at your stores? Don't you think that once that's publicised then it will turn into one big public relations disaster for your company?
(2) You say on your Facebook page that anyone who is not happy with receiving a parking charge notice can contact you either via Facebook or by email. What about those people who are not on Facebook or don't even
have access to the internet. Are you going to publicise via posters inyour stores, and on any paperwork sent out by Parking Eye. If you don't do that, how are those people mentioned above going to know that avenue is open to them and how are they going to contact your head office?
(3) Another question, is anyone in either Aldi's senior management team, or customer services team conversant with civil law, especially the part that deals with trespass or contract, both of which are relevant to private parking charges. If they are, then they should know that civil law clearly states that if you sue somebody then you can only claim for any material loss that you have suffered. You cannot ask for a sum of money that bears no relationship to that loss. This is what is happening with Parking Eye's tickets. They are demanding up to £100 for overstaying . How have you or Parking Eye, sustained such a loss for an
overstay? It can never be justified. Therefore that's regarded as an unfair penalty in law. What part of "A whop bop-a-lu a whop bam boo" don't you understand?0 -

Trisontana - how did she respond to those questions.
I sent a set of similar general questions online using their facebook contact page and received an email response back to contact Rachel or Laura regarding my parking charge notice- and got no response.

I really can't see why she specifically wants me to call her and why she can't put the 'other options' in a letter. It does seem strange0
