Should have checked MSE first ..... Doh!

Finally fed up of slow Lloyds site I rang them this morning, and said it seems to have been slow for about 3 months, but getting worse.

Sometimes I log on just to check if anything has arrived/left, and if nothing has changed I have to wait for the logoff button to appear.

All of the steps when transferring etc are very slow. Explained that there was no longer any 'snap', more a drag.

Anyways ..... they told me nothing wrong, yes they had changed things a bit when Lloyds and TSB split, but must be my computer or browser. Then told not to use favourites or autoload as that may be slower than typing in lloydsbank.com but that just brings up a warning that I'm being re-directed to a dodgy site ...... AHHHHHH!

So they aren't aware of any problems, then I read this thread and find the exact description I was looking for 'sluggish', but apparently it's us, not them, of course!

Actually they were all up to normal speed yesterday evening - having been a bit slow during the day.

Yep, last night, and this morning it seems to have got its 'snap' back.

Quick update, I did speak to them again, but they suggested I change browser, clear cache, delete browser history.

They said they weren't aware of any other complaints, but when I mentioned that a thread existed on here, that changed to, not enough complaints to register any fault.

Ho hum, maybe it's sorted now anyway ......... yeah right!

Like I said in one of my earlier posts, if not enough people complain about it they won't take any interest in it (when I started the thread, I was told they didn't have any known problems, I told them they did now). It pis*es me off though that they just bury their heads in the sand and hope it'll go away.

That's why I decided to ring back, to try to add a bit of pressure. Do you (anyone?) remember about 10 years ago or so, when the online log in would say you got the memorable info bit wrong. Would always ask for the same 3 characters, so you just kept re-entering them (the same ones) till it accepted your answer. Maybe took 2 goes, maybe took 10 goes. I think that lasted about 2 or 3 months.

I asked around in work on an intranet (about 5,000 peeps), got loads of responses all saying it was happening to them too.

Rang Lloyds, explained, they'd go away and check and just say, yes, the computer shows you got it wrong 4 times this morning. They never took me seriously, Wifey told me to give up, she was happy just re-entering over and over. But I was a little concerned that the safety measures weren't exactly consistent.

Eventually it just stopped happening. Ho hum .... again!

Did anyone ever discover the cause of this problem?

On my Windows 7 + IE8 system, I have experienced (and am still experiencing) very slow performance on Lloyds Internet Banking ever since the split, but TSB Internet Banking performance has been good.

In addition, the layout of some of the pages on the Lloyds site have irregularities. In particular, when you log off, the picture headers on the "You've logged out" page are not displayed. In their place, two rectangles with red crosses are present and the left hand rectangle also contains the text "???pages/p02_00_logged_off/propeties:img00002b???". Has anyone else experienced these layout irregularities on the Lloyds site?

The layout irregularities don't occur on TSB site. Moreover, neither slow performance nor the layout irregularities occur when I use an iPad to access the Lloyds site.

Is the consensus that this is a Lloyds Bank problem, or is it a configuration problem on individual PCs?

:)Clear the Windows Paging File at Shutdown - works for me!

I use Windows XP and have just found out that if you clear the Windows Paging File - reboot and now login to Online Banking they are all superfast!

    1.Start Registry Editor (Regedt32.exe).
2.Change the data value of the ClearPageFileAtShutdown value in the following registry key to a value of 1:
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Session Manager\Memory Management
If the value does not exist, add the following value:
    Value Name: ClearPageFileAtShutdown
    Value Type: REG_DWORD
    Value: 1
This change does not take effect until you restart the computer
Always backup first - before making any changes to the Registry
    After making the change restart

Only downside on my PC - it takes longer to shut down

    frank777, brilliant, thank you.

I used to have clear paging file at shutdown set on my old Windows XP system but I haven't bothered to do it yet on my new Windows 7 system.

However, taking your tip, I tried the easy and safest option first. I removed the paging file from my C: partition and set it up on my D: partition instead, and then rebooted. Then I reversed the process to set the paging file back up on my C: partition and remove it from my D: partition, and rebooted again. Effectively, all this activity deletes the paging file on the C: partition and sets up a new one.

Result, excellent performance on the Lloyds Internet Banking site and all the layout irregularities have disappeared. In particular, I now have the correct headers on the "You've logged out" page, namely the Lloyds Bank logo and the "Log back into your account" button.

It does look as though this is a configuration problem on individual PCs, although I can't help feeling that the Lloyds Bank Web site developers could do something about it if they wanted to. They can't really expect their average user to be able to edit the registry or delete and recreate the paging file.
