Thanks Chrysalis, although I can see the positives sometimes it's really helpful to have someone else point them out too And thank you for the tips for travel - we've got a 'bag of tricks' planned to amuse toddler star on both journeys and he loves a good sing so think we'll be ok - its more how squashed we'll all be I'm more worried about (and how travel sick I might be if I can't drive on the windy roads - embarrassing I know And thank you for the tips for travel - we've got a 'bag of tricks' planned to amuse toddler star on both journeys and he loves a good sing so think we'll be ok - its more how squashed we'll all be I'm more worried about (and how travel sick I might be if I can't drive on the windy roads - embarrassing I know ) )
I worded it badly in my post but its not the guarantor moving in - she is a lovely lady who is the only one that tells us anything truthful No its the bloke who used to live there before he walked out on his girlfriend and children and failed to respond to anyones attempts to contact him - he's back (or he might be v soon). So I need to look into whether he should be on the tenancy agreement if some of the housing benefit is in his name. I'm hoping at some point this tenancy will become straightforward No its the bloke who used to live there before he walked out on his girlfriend and children and failed to respond to anyones attempts to contact him - he's back (or he might be v soon). It must be a right pain if this happens every month with your expenses, I know if DH's are ever late (which is rare) it does really upset things.
I am aware of how ridiculous it looks on here complaining about the type of car we'll be travelling in on holiday and I know how lucky we are to be going on holiday - I think my main difficulty at the moment is with DH and how he isn't handling things so well. I'm hoping this holiday will help, so even though its an enforced expense it may have lots of benefits

Not ridiculous at all xx just a pain for you when plans get changed.
My dh currently has the hump because I wouldn't give him £2 for a beer even though I managed to squeeze a bottle of wine into the shopping and I as usual go without any treats. He said I'm 41 years old and have to ask you for money after I've worked hard all week. I said yep and have left him to stew :rotfl:
Just one thing after another sometimes, sending you a dodgy hug for better news this week :grouphug:

Sometimes men just need to have a woman in charge of their finances.
I've stuck my boyfriend on a budget.
He's got a whole range of things he wants to save up for, including a deposit for a house for us both (which I'm also saving for).
So I've written him a whole bunch of savings envelopes, each with the purpose and the amount to be saved for on the front, as well as the date he's looking to have it by.
I've also told him to give my "cash only" plan a whirl for a while.
When I get paid I take out every last penny that isn't needed for direct debits and split it up into my cash debts/payments (board to my mum, petrol, "pleasure" money) and the rest goes into savings. That way I can't spend on my debit card.
I find it works for me, so now I'm encouraging (telling) him to have a go.
I feel a bit bossy about it, but they just need a bit of a push in the right direction sometimes don't they? Debts (as of 28/10/15) Debts (as of 28/10/15)

Elfy - I love it!! You sound quite a lot like me And you seem super organised with the envelopes and goals. I would love to do the cash only thing as I think it helps you be even more disciplined, me and DH tried it for a while but as our money comes in at all different times of the month it didn't really work - plus he kept forgetting to take the money out for visiting the shops and used the debit card anyway And you seem super organised with the envelopes and goals. Quick update as I'm on my hols and baby star has just woken up. We're having a lovely time, just playing on the beach and in the garden and enjoying very lazy mornings - heaven . We have run out of money however we have food in the cupboards and DH gets paid tomorrow so no drama. . The wedding was lovely but quite hard work with the littlies - weddings are definitely different with small children in tow!! Because the weather was so cold and rainy the naming ceremony the day after became a much more informal affair so the outfit I had purchased will be going back to the shop, very mse :money: It became a 'wear your wellies and warm coats' type of day which I reckon made it even more fun! :rotfl:
It has been sunny but raining today so I think we'll have a drive to the nearest town and then a DVD this aft - our holiday house is lush so it's no hardship staying in. Then the big drive home tomorrow, we got here in 8 hours so hoping to do the same tomorrow, we shall see.

Good to hear the trip went well and you had a great time away.
OH is probably just suffering from sleep deprivation as well as the strain of having two? Hope so anyway...did the break away help at all?
We will be having to think about getting a car soon...not sure what or how I can afford it as really reluctant to take out credit again...still haven't decided what to do but figure I will need one at some stage. Haven't missed the responsibility though of bills, tax, MOT and the like! Will be a bit of a shock when they return:oMFiT-T4 Member No. 96 - 2022 is my MF goal

Hey Brizzle! I think we might have been in the same neck of the woods last week, hope your journey home was a little quicker than mine! Me and DH did find time to chat, and I do think it's definitely been the trials of the adjustment period with 2 littlies - I think the holiday will have helped. Having said that he's working all the hours under the sun this week already so fingers crossed the effects last at least a little bit of time!!
And eek to taking on a car!! It's only since we went to one car a couple of years ago that it really sunk in how much they do cost  However, there are bargains out there and with a good "car costs" budget I'm sure you will manage how to do it without making too much of a dent in things. Look at everything else you've managed to do recently!! And they do bring with them freedom, ease and peace of mind - I feel much better knowing I can get somewhere in an emergency with a car.
Chrysalis - I am just emerging from the washing and tidying today!! And yes I realised I haven't updated on the rent sitch - It's up to date (keeping in mind the council pay at the end of every 4 week period) and due next week. We haven't been told of any changes so we're just going to wait for the next statement and see where we stand. The tenants are now paying their top up portion BEFORE it's due every 2 weeks - from one extreme to another!! Hope all is good with you and I really must seek out your diary - I'll make it a goal for the week And yes I realised I haven't updated on the rent sitch - It's up to date (keeping in mind the council pay at the end of every 4 week period) and due next week.
