  • We had a fab night at the theatre last night and one of the girls found an offer of 2 for £7.50 meal deal at one of the local pubs....it was great value and a good sized portion....I had scampi, chips, peas, bread and butter and a diet coke for £5.15!! :beer:The show was amazing too and I have some cash left to see me through til Wednesday when I finish my shift!:D

The sun is shining here in Wales today and my direct debit for my gas and electric has actually come down this winter as we have not needed the heating on much! I haven't been scrimping on heating as I see it as essential if we're cold but we've genuinely not needed it which is fab!

I need to pay for DS' music lessons etc this month but I am still hoping to make another OP of some sort...fingers crossed!

Happy Saturday....I'm off to work though!
I'm off on shift now...happy Saturday to

  • Thanks so much greent.....what a lovely thing to say!! I just keep plodding on and keep (mostly!) smiling!!

I've been a bit lax on my diary this month.....been manic in work and I've been socialising too!!

So, no new OPs this month.....stuff to go on fleabay though....boxed stuff up for Magpie and they didn't :mad:collect it!

I've been meal planning though....found an amazing recipe for goats cheese veggie shepherds pie....will be cooking that this week! I also made a fab biryani for work which fed me on 2 afternoons and it was lush!

It's been a spendy day today....had to stock up in Mr T and A*di so I've spent £54 but it should do us until the end of the month give or take another 10 quid for fresh veggies, bread etc

Off out with some friends on Saturday and the kids....looking forward to a lovely lunch....budget of £15 (good old fashioned pub grub!):T

Chillaxing on the sofa watching Celeb BB now (my inner chav is trying to get out!!:rotfl:) Oh, it's soooo tacky but I love it!!

  • Watched Mr :money:on itv this evening and was very interested on the bit about compensation for late flights......took DS to Majorca when he was 2 and was delayed 5 hours on the way there and a hellish 9 hours on the way back!! I was all excited (pound signs in my eyes!!) until I read the small print that told me I couldn't claim because my airline went bust!! G.U.T.T.E.D!!

Never mind....another day, another dollar!!:D I'll just carry on saving for my next holiday instead....Menorca in August with DS and some friends...can't wait!

Had a housework day today as my friend cancelled on me (she'd double booked)...it suited me because it gave me time to blitz the house and catch up with some tv. My only spends today were 55p on the paper and £1.50 for DS for orchestra (tuck shop money....an opportunity to eat sweets and drink fizzy drinks without me saying he's had enough!!)

We're home now, having a quick tidy up then cheese toasties and some Saturday night TV. Back to work tomorrow so I'm enjoying a final evening off!

oooh...just had a thought..next month my debts will be in the £10,000s not the £11,000s!!:j

If I can get the mortgage to under £150,000 by the end of the year and my debts down to four figures...I'll be a happy sleepygirl!!

That's a great achievement SleepyGirl, it's great watching those big numbers coming down ... it makes it all worthwhile! I'll be rooting for you with those end of year number goals, it's a real motivator having them to work towards.

I just had a little catch up with your thread ... shame about the small print with the flight delay compo but hey, you're doing so well all under your own steam!

Hope you and DS have a lovely evening!

  • Thanks Habiboo....I really appreciate the encouraging words!!

manic shift in work today.....a job has come up with another organisation which would be a promotion for me but it's a fixed term contract with no guarantee of a job at the end of it. My boss was horrified that I wanted to apply and was telling me all sorts of horror stories about people being cast off after 2 years of service, how would I support DS etc....I'm going to go for it, I haven't had an interview for 4 years (so either way it's good practice) and it's another 5k a year which would be very welcome! Sometimes life is about taking a risk:eek:

DS and I have just finished fajitas.....had quorn with mine as I've been trying to eat more protein...it tasted like shoe leather and I remember why I don't eat it!!:rotfl:

Good luck sg. To be honest, a fixed term contract probably gives more security than most jobs these days
A positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effort
