If the meter runs backwards, then the agent reading will show it up as faulty or tampered with, or if a customer reading, it will be rejected by the system as erroneous.
He'll then (in the latter case) get an estimated bill anyway.
In the former case, he'll get a visit from Revenue Protection.
he was saying he puts it on over night to take it back some units and half their bill and has been doing it quite a while from what i gather and has got away free so far.0 -
What about your relationships with your family.
No-one likes a grass, especially if it was their sis.
Why not explain the downside to this tampering and leave it to them?
If he knows what you are like, maybe it's a wind up?0 -
No the meter won't explode or start emitting killer gamma rays -the risk will be to his pocket, criminal record and freedom.
I'd butt out if I were you.
it will very much affect me if he gets put in prison or cant continue his job with a criminal record as my sister and her daughter will probably end up in my house.
i'm really trying to help solve something before it becomes a big problem.
i cant just walk away from family.0 -

i don't have the best of relationships with him, and my sister has turned into a total walkover and its difficult to get time with just her for more than a couple of seconds. the kind of people that burn a credit card bill and see that as a problem solved.0 -
What he is doing is THEFT and you and everyone else are paying for what he is stealing.
Would you condone him filling his car up with fuel and driving away without paying or going into Tesco and hiding some of his shopping so he could reduce his bill - its effectively the same thing - THEFT.
If he's openly boasting about it, then shop him. If you are the only one who knows then he might be able to trace it back to you, so it's down to your conscience.Never under estimate the power of stupid people in large numbers0 -

its difficult to know what to do, wish i did not know but could not sleep last night thinking about what happens when he is caught.
i know money is really tight at the moment and they are getting into debt and having to do without alot.
funnily enough i know he is kinda steeling from tesco, he puts things like apples through as potatoes. but i know money is really tight and it is wrong in some ways, but poor people stealing from a large supermarket in order to feed their family is not cut and dry.
all i want to happen is for someone to find out about it, and just give him a warning and a hard slap on the wrist.0 -

he sees the energy companies, bankers and politicians as steeling and getting away with it, is like talking to a closed book at times.0 -
If he's a closed book, then report him and he'll be sent to jail.
Sounds like he dam well deserves it.0 -

It is still theft.
So bottom line your brother in law is a thief which makes him a criminal.Life is not the way it’s supposed to be. It’s the way it is. The way you cope with it is what makes the difference.0
