its all well and good various posters agreeing with jojo.
nobody is suggesting that the offender is approached or intimidated in any way, as everyone knows this can easily turn against you. watch, follow, listen, take mental notes, the childs name was said, more info, video or record if practical and possible as said get bus numbers and report your findings, if you feel the need keep watching everyday now you know the address, and keep reporting and keep reporting.

Oh my God, if everyone started doing that we'd have 1984! :rotfl:

No, but seriously, if you suspect abuse there are numbers you can ring and they can advise. But I wouldn't want to live in a society where good parents are terrified of disciplining their child in case some busybody reports them for something.

All these people saying report it, - report what? A woman swearing at her child.

Woman's name? Don't know. Child's name? Don't know. Where do they live? Don't know. Ever seen them before? No. Did she hit the child? No, but she seems that type..

Not much for the authorities to go on really, is there.

childs name was Leanne, if you cant be bothered to even read the thread properly and "understand" it, why do you care. oh I think I might know.

Have a barney with the mother and the bus driver will immediately contact the police and hopefully the barney will continue until the police arrive. In an ideal world!
.................:)....I'm smiling because I have no idea what's going on ...:)

Report her for a breach of Section 5 of the Public Order Act, namely using threatening, abusive and obscene language in a public place and also within earshot of someone likely to alarmed or distressed by the language (the child).

What do we know - she breached the Public Order Act which does not require actual physical force to be used, we know what bus she got on and at what time, we know what stop she got off at and we know what she and her child looked like. With the amount of CCTV in use on buses and in the street the chances are very strong she could be identified.

..who would in all likelihood side with the sweary woman and arrest the do-gooder for causing a public disturbance

I've seen it happen so many times before, unfortunately. The person in the right ends up being threatened or punished, and those in the wrong aren't even cautioned :(

    NO!!

    I definitely do not!

But generally, as a society do we want to have to live in fear of well-meaning busybodies going round reporting on others. Oh, hang on..

no lets not report good parents that would be silly.. it's up to you if you want to live in a civilised society or not,:rotfl:most don't find abusive behavior funny.
