5. Yes, to £2.10P.S. some of the posters who share the answers to some of the competitions are spending quite a lot of money on papers and or magazines to share with this lovely comping community because they want to put something back in for the wins they have reaped from this site. So thanks to them all, and let them have the opportunity to enter as many as they want.0

4. Yes, up to £2.00I voted £2.10 but tbh I don't think there should be a mandatory limit in place. For one thing, as has been said we are adults here and can decide what to spend our money on. I appreciate knowing about purchase comps as I can make an informed decision re whether to buy that product / change brands etc. Nobody is forcing anyone to buy promotional items but it's nice to have the choice. As has also been said, I'm forever reading in the email newsletter about a freebie that comes with a £3 or £4 magazine, so what's the difference? And as has also been mentioned, if the site's aim is to 'protect' members from spending on comps, what is it doing to stop people from e.g paying four times to enter an itv comp by phone? Or texting every one of those comps in the women's mags, running up £10 or so on their phone bill? I choose not to enter them, just as I could choose whether or not to enter a purchase comp where the item may cost a few pounds. I don't need my hand holding, and even though almost every comp i ever enter is free, I prefer to know about purchase comps and make my own decision.0

4. Yes, up to £2.00Personally, I think we are all adults who are capable of deciding our own spending limits so would rather there was no limit, to allow each person to decide for themselves.
I buy x amounts of teabags a month for x amount, but if I was aware I could buy another brand for same price and have the opportunity to enter a competition at the same time then I would do that etc etc.
With a low spend limit, these competitions don't make their way to the boards so I have no chance to enter.
I think a comping spend thread is a good idea for those that want to use it, and who would be buying those things anyway but possibly a different brand.I love this board, have "virtually" met so many lovely people, people I am honoured to count as friends.

Nono for me. i dont think the point is whether people can make their own decisions. this forum is about money saving and you put comps up to £2.10 you can bet comps will be posted over that amount because people ignore it anyway. lets keep this as a free comp board. any amount spent on a comp is gambling that money in the hope of winning. i hope that unless there is a huge majority it doesnt change.0

5. Yes, to £2.10£2.10 for me. I differentiate between gambling, which is paying money simply to bet on an outcome, and paying for a product which I might use with the bonus of entering a competition. However, in either case, as an adult I can choose whether to spend or not and would appreciate the opportunity to decide.0

5. Yes, to £2.10I don't really think the spending limit reflects how much we spend on comps anyway.
For example, the Magnum comp a few years back was allowed because they were on offer everywhere for £1. However, people spent hundreds of pounds of them so the £1 limit was pointless. The same goes for the Bonkers about Biscuits comp etc.
I won a Kindle Fire HD on the Douwe Egberts FB comp this Summer - it was only allowed on the board because it was on offer somewhere and you could combine it with a voucher to get it down to £1.50 for a small jar. I paid £2.50 for my jar and was perfectly happy to do so because hubby likes DE coffee (I like Millicano) - PLUS I got a win. I would never have seen that comp though if there hadn't been offers on.
I don't think there should be a limit at all. If you want to spend £500 on 500 packets of KitKats to possibly win a Nexus, then go ahead. Equally, if you want to spend £5 on a one-chance comp, that's up to you.
Purchase-to-enter comps aren't gambling as you are getting something in return for your money anyway - the comp is just a bonus.Living with Lupus is like juggling with butterflies0 -

But if you were going to buy a box of PG Tips for £2.50, but Tetley had a fab comp on it for £2.50 which would you buy? Am not suggesting encouraging people to overspend, but if I knew brand X had a comp on it for same price, would buy that, if I don't know about it then I stick to normal brand.
I don't think people ignore the spend rule on here, in fact some posters actually go out of their way to source the best price which is below the spending limit.
As I buy teabags (or whatever) anyway, would not consider it gambling if I switched to another brand for a similar price to enter a comp, as it is something I was going to buy anyway.I love this board, have "virtually" met so many lovely people, people I am honoured to count as friends.

5. Yes, to £2.10Just another point,
If its decided the limit should not be raised - then by your own rules MSE,
You will HAVE TO BAN ALL THE PUZZLE MAGS from being posted as they cost alot more than £1.53.
(i think that will definately change peoples minds to allow the limit to be raised, the mags comps are the #1 comps on mse by a mile!)Still comping, after 2 heart attacks 4th feb & 6th feb, and a stent put in.. 45 years old only:eek:0 -
