Update Fri 25 October 2013:
Hi everyone
The poll results are a resounding yes for increasing the limit to £2.10 so we've increased the amount and updated Martin's original post.
Huge thanks to everyone who responded
Hi everyone!
As fully fledged compers on the Comps Board you'll know we ask you not to post comps that require spending more than £1.53.
It's not because we're party poopers (we promise!), it's because the board's for competitions that are free to enter - we'd hate to think you were spending money on the chance of winning something that just isn't guaranteed especially if you can't afford it.
We've had a few nudges from people concerned the £1.53 limit isn't enough though.
So please let us know how you feel on this by voting in the poll.
We'll take a look at the poll results and make a decision but they'll need to show a clear winner - if the results are within a few % of each other we'll keep the level the same.

5. Yes, to £2.10Thanks for the poll MSE Andrea :j :j :j
I've gone for the maximum £2.10 because it'll probably be a few years before it gets raised again (if it does) and we're already over the limit on some of the Lotto and postals entries
At least with an increase we can see the comps that are out there, and enter if we choose :j#StaySafeWishing you a Merry Christmas and a happy, healthy New Year0 -
5. Yes, to £2.10i think its a personal choice to enter the competition or not, its not a gambling site but i think its nice to share some comps that have great prizes like the recent lotto ones!! seems a shame to miss out just cos they are 47p over the limit lol lets go with inflation and keep with IT lolTop wins - £10,000 lottery/daily mirror, £5000 asda vouchers, £1000 washing machine, 2 week canaries cruise, VIP trip to the olympics, 46" 3D TV, personal chef, kitchen aid mixer, £1000 tesco vouchers - latest prize £10,000 road trip with kit Kat0

5. Yes, to £2.10It might just be me but could this not just be easily solved by either ensuring anything above the limit goes into a separate forum - like we have the postal/telephone ones anyway or alternately for the comp titles to just have ( purchased required ) on them
I appreciate it is a money saving site etc but you do have to allow people to have some common sense as well imo
Also ( and I appreciate it is not exactly the same ) but if you were being picky about it then competitions found in GQ/ Stuff/ Shortlist etc could be technically over as the magazine costs more than the price ( I know each person does not have to purchase them individually but the magazine companies would be hoping they do )
I just think it is all a bit of a murky area to be honestJuly 2015 Wins- Shaun The Sheep Goody Bag, 4x Books
Year to date: £786
Total to date ( Since 2008 ) = £37,345 :eek:0 -
5. Yes, to £2.10Sometimes there are things you buy every week - such as tea-bags, coffee and like products that are a little bit more - but have Purchase necessary on them.
I've also gone for the Max as it will save this discussion for few yearsxx
December Wins: £300 worth of board games, £500 Tesco Vouchers Best Win in 2023: £500 Tesco Vouchers0 -

Unfortunately up until now if we posted anything over the £1.53 the post would get removed :silenced: :shhh:#StaySafeWishing you a Merry Christmas and a happy, healthy New Year0 -
NoThank You Andrea,
The poll is a brilliant idea could do with this more often so Thank You.
I voted No
I believe entering competitions should be free. I do understand that people may of brought the item needed so is in effect free but it won't be for everyone.
I feel the more people who enter the comps where you need to spend money will encourage company's to hold more of them, which is something we don't want

I agree with MSE's stance completely, so please give an option in the poll to remove "buy to play" competitions from the competitions board.0
