Payday
Accounts look like this:
Current account: £83
Food: £55.35
Birthdays: £85.58
Car fund: £146.97 (Note to self, must find out when the car tax is due)
Savings: £1603.46
I have enough money in my bills account to cover a month's worth of direct debits even though I have two more paydays left this month, so that's good news. I've also added another couple of pounds to my ISA this morning, making it almost £100 paid in since the beginning of the month.
I closed my old Santander savings account yesterday, so that was £1.01 to my Sealed Pot and I added the other £2 I had left in my purse this morning.
There's a trick on the forum this morning for getting free Amazon coins. They're only good for use on paid apps/in-game purchases but as there's an app I've been wanting for a wee while and didn't want to pay for I'm happy enough0 -
Went for a wander at lunchtime and picked up:
Pasta sauce from Lidl: £0.75 (Much cheaper than buying from a "proper" supermarket!)
Eggs from Farmfoods £1
1kg pasta also from Farmfoods £0.89
Is that a good price for pasta?! My wee brain is so befuddled by maths I can't tell anymore0 -
Was it pasta twists? I'm sure Morrisons savers pasta twists are about 40p ish for 500g so you can't be far wrong at 89p. Not everyone likes the savers ones either. I'm not fussed about my pasta as long as it is cheap.Mortgage at 12/07/2022 = £175,000

Aye pasta twists.
Good, I don't feel as ripped off then
Other MSE activity today was returning the stuff I bought from New Look. After all the faffing about looking for a dress I tried on one I didn't fit in to that well and it's now perfect so I'm wearing that0 -
I bought pasta twists from Lidl and paid 89p. Was grumping away to myself about being ripped off when it dawned on me that it was 1kg instead of the 500g

Honestly, so much panic and for no good reason.
The wedding we're going to first is one of my best friends and she wouldn't care what I wore.
The other one is for Mr Mooo's cousin who I have only met once and I don't give a shiny sh*te what he thinks of my dress :rotfl:0 -

Do I need mobile phone insurance??
I've got a shiny new HTC phone which costs around £500 to buy new (at the moment)
I've currently got it on my new one - £5.99 / monthand they'll replace it instantly in store if it's broken
Check your home contents insurance, mine covers my phone.
but .... would you really want to claim off this?
I know someone who did (as it was going to cost almost £200 to have the screen on hers replaced:eek:) and of course she lost her NCD and it went up at renewal
She then had to get a 2nd one replaced (one of this kids phones this time) and had to make a 2nd claim on her house insurancegirlatplay wrote: »I know this is different but I don't have insurance for our 2 cats. I put a little aside each month into an account to cover anything. So far it has worked well (touch wood) so I would use that principle with the phone.
mmm might think about that myself
Trying to do that with the pets (and switch them to an accident / injury policy which is a lot cheaper) BUT Maisie keeps having vet trips costing around £100 (so not worth claiming on insurance anyway) and wiping it outGrocery Challenge £211/£455 (01/01-31/03)

Something that I realised earlier when I was posting on the NSK thread:
I've budgeted everything this month based on being paid four times (weekly pay) which means the last Friday is essentially a freebie
Current thought is:
Keep my £37.50 payment to my food account - a girl still has to eat
Pay £100 to the bills account just in case of any mistakes (unlikely but I like to have a good balance in there)
Don't pay money to the birthday/car accounts as their payments will start up again on 6th June which *is* a four week month.
Assuming I get paid the same as I normally do (around £297) that leaves me over £150 for that week which will cover all the petrol costs for the wedding we'll be at that weekend without me touching my savings
Now, what have I forgotten??!0 -
My list for today (pinched from the small DFW thread because it's too much typing to do it again!)
[STRIKE]Banking[/STRIKE] All as it should be. Transferred 64p to my savings account so my current account could be a round number :rotfl:
[STRIKE]Clear the washing basket[/STRIKE] First time I've seen the bottom of it in quite a while
[STRIKE]Dishes[/STRIKE] Mostly done. Industrial injury stopped play - see below
[STRIKE]Make a large pot of bolognese sauce[/STRIKE] Bubbling away nicely. Large chunk of finger nearly added to the pot but I managed to stop the blood hitting the vegRemainder of dishes left for Mr Mooo.
Inventory the freezer
Meal plan using that inventory
Buy meat for the freezer
Meet a friend for brunch
Pop to Te$co for my tinned fruit (they are the only supermarket I know of whose value tinned fruit is in juice and not syrup; their peaches anyway!)
Put away yesterday's washing
Go for a walk in the sunshine
Return a dress to Debenhams
I have 100 extra Nectar points showing on my account for no reason. I'm going to take them thoughBalance is now 5585/£27.92 :j I qualified for a survey today but the site crashed
Adpoints seems to be broken too.
Yesterday I bought pasta sauce with cash rather than my card so I didn't have to use a card for 75p. I got two £2 coins in the change so they're in the pot now and my personal spends are a little depleted :rotfl: I only used 2/3 of the jar for dinner so on Sunday I'm going to cook up some pasta, add some veggies and the rest of the sauce and have that for lunch on Monday.
I did a reasonable shop last night for under £15. I still have my full £37.50 weekly budget in tact so I'm going to get some meat for the freezer today.0
