I did, on a local (countywide) dating site and he is lovely. Even though we lived about 5 miles from each other it's unlikely we'd have ever bumped into each other. i tell people i bought him on-line, he tells people we met in a coffee shop and got talking, lol. I'm not embarrassed about it - it makes lots of sense. There could be someone perfect just up the road from you but you'd never meet them by chance.
I've also been to a friend's wedding where they met through Match.com - very happy and now with two children.[STRIKE][/STRIKE]I am a long term poster using an alter ego for debts and anything where I might mention relationship problems or ex. Met my hubby on udate.com back in July 1999. Met in person in the November and that was it, we never looked back.
Just over a year later I sold up and moved to live with him and we got married in 2004. Will be celebrating our 10th wedding anniversary in January.
I kissed quite a few frogs before meeting my hubby (bars really aren't a great place to meet the love of your life - I only know one person who has a successful marriage by meeting this way). It just seemed natural to go on to a website where we were all there for the same reason. We lived 70 miles apart so would never have met without the site.
I do think we were quite lucky though as some dating websites became a bit of a hotbed of intrigue, affairs & lets face it, sex fests for a while in the early 2000's if the reports were correct.
All our friends/family know and think it is fab!0 -
I met my husband on bolt, it was an American site with forums and you collected badges for your profile, very teenager focused. He just sent me a note as it was called and it just went from that.
I was 18 at the time. We then met in person just before my 21st, I came to the UK for a months holiday and then made the big move from Australia to the UK 3 months later.
I've lived in the UK for 10 years now and we've been married for 2 years and have a 10 day old daughter together.
I never used to tell people how we met. I used to say we met whilst I was on holiday which is true, just used to miss out the part that the whole purpose of my visit was to meet him.Mummy to two girls: October 2013 and February 20160 -
Friend of mine (in Wales - who I met through a writers' group (actually dated a couple from there too, oops forgot about that!)) met a girl in America through flickr.com. Both into photography. He's now moved out there and they're happily married!

I met my OH on a football forum!:rotfl:
We started talking on a thread in December 2006, moved to PM's and then msn, then finally met up in Feb 2007.
We lived about 25 miles from each other, but probably would never have met otherwise, although we'd both been at hundreds of the same football games over the years (along with 60,000 others!):D0 -

Met mine on the Redcafe.net forums back in 2000. Still meet up others we met thru the forum including visiting a couple of them in Australia on our honeymoon
We have officially been together since 2002 and married in 2010. And we are both still fanatical footie fans0
