I met mine on a dating site too, after meeting many 'interesting' characters and at least 4 years being a member. I had certainly given up, it was just the entertaining and habit forming pattern that made me continue signing on the site.
Yet here is was, my perfect partner, who became my husband 4 1/2 years after he posted his lovely message, and after I checked his profile, I emailed my friend to say I had finally found the one I would share the rest of my life with!0 -

I met my husband in the Yahoo chat rooms 11 years ago. We've been married for 4 years and are now expecting our first child together.
Online is a great way to really get to know someone - much better than picking up someone in a bar!
SK xAfter 4 years of heartache, 3 rounds of IVF and 1 loss :A - we are finally expecting our miracle Ki11en - May 2014 :j
And a VERY surprise miracle in March 2017!0 -
I met my husband at a mutual friend's house party - at the time, we lived at opposite ends of the country (Manchester and Dorset!) so we got to know each other via the medium of Facebook messaging over the following few months. He then came to visit me in Manchester, and the rest is history
so we sort of met over Facebook really
:j Married my lovely man on 29th June 2013 :j0 -
I met my husband online, on a forum site which did have a dating aspect, although we were there on the forums rather than the personals.
Virtually no one knows - one or two of my closest friends and that is it. It is partly because we are just embarrassed having met online but also because the website we met on was a bit 'alternative' so we wouldn't be able to tell people what it was (though it doesn't even exist anymore). We tell people we met at a station too (technically we did - we just don't tell them we had already planned to meet there!)
I would not be embarrassed if I had met someone on a straightforward dating site like match.com. For some weird reason I think a forum is more embarrassing.0
