I met my husband on AOL back in the olden days of t'interweb (98)!

    Me too. 1997.

We'd never have met by any other means. We were never in the same place at the same time. Came from completely different backgrounds, career patterns, he was in the south when I was in the north and vice versa. We just hit it off from day one.

O/H and I met in the MSN chat rooms - not a dating one though. We've been together 12 years and married for 5. Most of our friends know we met online but as above, we never would have met otherwise as we lived at opposite ends of the country and very different working environments. O/H was actually in Paris during the week but computer based work so online during the day whereas I worked evenings so home in the daytime.
I don't understand the stigma attached to online dating - why does it matter how you meet?

  • I don't think it does now Philippa36.

I think more people are online these days and if I'm going out for a meal, coffee, drink I'm never going to actually meet anyway normally too engrossed with friends who all have partners.

DH and I met through eHarmony, we lived in towns next door to each other but would never have crossed paths if it wasn't for online dating!

We've been married for nearly 3 years and our daughter is nearly 2 with another on the way :D

There are at least half-a-dozen couples who have met via the MSE Forum, there have been a couple of weddings - most recent was Jansus & Partlydave who married at Gretna a few weeks ago and who are currently on honeymoon :)

I met my partner Marleyboy on MSE :heartpuls

I was going to say the same thing. I never understand this. We always tell children and teenagers not to add anyone they don't already know!
