I have a Facebook friend who met her husband via World of Warcraft.

I dont know anyone in the 'real world' who has tho....unless they are keeping quiet about it!

I met several people through old chatrooms (MSN chatroom days - 2000 onwards, and another chatroom I forget, never go on any nowadays), plus one from a car forum. Used to go along to 'meets' with friends of mine. Longest relationship was around 3 years (lived together for a year, and another for around two years. Few other dates/short term relationships here and there. Got lots of ex-forum friends on FB. Some VERY close friends out of that lot!

Friend of mine met her partner through ebay lol. She was selling records/stuff he was interested in, he asked why she was selling... it progressed from there!

Have you got your eye on someone? Nudge nudge wink wink ;)

I met my partner through MySpace (that's how long ago it was!!) We are celebrating our seven year anniversary soon and we also got engaged recently.

Must admit it's still a bit embarrassing telling people when they ask how we met! Sometimes I say at a train station, which is technically true!

I met my OH through a forum, not this one lol. Got chatting through PM - then progressed to numbers, then meeting for a coffee and we get married next year! Been together just over 3 years now.

yep met mine through a dating site. Also know quite a few others. Its quite normal these days
  • I met my partner online on the plenty of fish website. We have been together since August 2012 & very much in love.... I agree it's quite a daunting experience once you sift out the players it can be quite a positive experience.
  • Met mine online, been together 6 months and very happy - most of the time :)

3 previous relationships also started online. 2 of which were a bit of a disaster area but the other lasted 3 and a half years.

I don't see why there remains a stigma to online dating. I think it's a great way of meeting people. Of course we would all love that chance meeting and stuff but for most people it's easier to do it online. My working hours mean I don't get to go out that often, my friends are all in relationships and rarely joined me on nights out so I found it easier to join online dating. I'm hoping things continue to go well for myself and my partner and I honestly feel so lucky I met her, I feel like she's my soul mate and I probably wouldn't have met her had it not been for this dating site. We live in different towns :)
  • Met mine through Zoosk which at the time was a fb application. Been together 5 years in Feb, married last month and have an 18 month old son :-)
Its a great way to meet people with similar interests and as long as you ensure you are safe with meeting in a public place letting someone know where you are going that you are home safe etc I would say go for it.
Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things that you didn't do than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bowlines. Sail away from the safe harbour. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover."
