Thomsons-booked 10 night holiday but flight not till the day after checkout

    All, thanks for your responses.

    We'll hold our hands up and say we made a mistake with the date\time on the last day. We saw the time flying back and assumed (wrongly in our excitement) that it was the last day, not last day 'plus one'.

    It seems fairly extraordinary to us that Thomsons would effectively sell an 11 night holiday as a 10 night holiday; that's why we missed the flight date the first time around and surely this is mis-representation.

    6:30am is morning not night , therefore we find it pretty hard to understand why we'd have to wait a whole night without sleep to catch this flight. We were sold a family holiday, I fail to see how in anyway this arrangement is family orientated.

    Surely the whole point of a 'package holiday', is that you book it and then don't have anymore worries. Not book a 10 night holiday, realise it's actually 11 nights and then have to worry where you and your young children (including a baby) are going to be sleeping for the final night!

    You'll probably think this is pedantic too but if I book a 10 night or 14 night or 21 night holiday, I expect to have 10 nights, 14 nights or 21 nights sleep in my room.

    Not 10 days, 14 days or 21 days in resort.

    The OP has booked a 10 night holiday, has paid for a 10 night holiday and is having 10 nights in his hotel room.

    I know I mentioned night flights in earlier posts but that was relating to my flight that I used as an example.
    I have not said that I consider a 6am flight to be a night flight.
    I was just pointing out that we, as the OP will have to do, (would have) had to check out at mid-day when we were flying the following day i.e. after midnight.

    It might also be worth you checking when your AI status stops as well. I've seen a number of posts on their FB page when customers taking a late flight home get told the AI runs out when they check out - regardless of when they fly.

    Where would you draw the line? Would you still be saying the same if the flight were leaving at 8am, 9am, 10am?

    He may have paid for and booked a 10 night holiday, but it is an 11 night holiday, there's no getting away from the fact that the flight is a morning flight leaving the next day, there is no way in the world this can ever be described as a night flight, it is leaving on the 11th day, a daytime flight, so should have had 11 night accommodation to go with is.

    6:30am is way past the point where it could be considered a night flight.
    TAs should make a point of highlighting such an itinerary, rather than expecting the customer to stumble over it.
    It's very easy for people to get confused with times when looking at flights.
    Thomson's simply should not have sold a 10 night package if it wasn't feasibly available, else they should have put a big warning on it.
    Change is inevitable, except from a vending machine.

    That's exactly how we feel. We lose a whole night sleep with this. God know's what it'll do to the kids.

    Is there anything set down that defines what's a night flight and what's not.

    We're very disappointed with Thomsons, we've paid a lot for a 'package holiday' and expect to get a package, not have almost a day loitering around in limbo.

    I still stand by my OP
    Just book another night with the hotel [even if it's not AI] and give Thomson a wide berth in future, you're unlikely to get anywhere with a complaint.
    Although a bit of grief on FB or Twitter is always rewarding :)

    Not an eleven night holiday with one sat in a hotel lobby with tired and upset children. That wasn't in the advert at all and we feel like we've been mis-sold.

    If you are arriving early with access to your room before mid day , that is classed as your first night . Its not uncommon with package holidays , we had that once 20 odd years ago to greece
