Thomsons-booked 10 night holiday but flight not till the day after checkout

I know the OP is having 10 nights of accommodation...but I also would assume that your flights are coordinated with those nights!! I don't generally expect to go on holiday and have to spend the last night of my holiday 'camping' out! That is why I think Thomson really should have provided warning of that. Yes, the OP should have been more careful reading about the return dates, but got to say I would agree with them, that if I had a flight at 6am I would be expecting a room for the night, as I am not staying up all night for that! Thomson should have provided a simple warning to state 'Please note flight leaves the following day'.0

We had a similar issue in Rhodes with our 20mth old daughter. I booked a hotel near the airport for the last night which meant we didn't have a tired baby on a coach for hours to the airport plus we saw a bit more of the island too. The taxi was only 6 euros and hotel only 30. Made things a bit calmer.
Don't think there's anything else you can do other than that thomsons would charge you to change.0 -

That's a very dangerous assumption and is likely to land you in the same boat as the OP - with any tour operator, not just Thomson - if you don't check beforehand.
Your expectations are - whether justified or not - wrong.
You would not have a room for your 11th night.
The OP has paid for 10 nights, he's getting 10 nights.
I reiterate - it is standard arrangements.
I reiterate - we were in the same position as the OP, late evening flights, MAN to Heraklion recently.
We arrived at our accommodation around 4am. That was night 1.
We were due to check out at midday after our 14th night.
Our return flight was not until 03:30 on checkout day +1 - which is similar timings to the OP.
I was well aware of this, I did not expect to have night 15 - even a part of it - for free as I'd only paid for 14 nights, not 15.
We elected to pay extra to keep our room until 6pm (the latest the hotel allowed).
This is one option open to the OP.
Another is to find a different hotel for the final night.0 -
The OP is having 10 nights:
The issue is the timing of the return flight home, nothing to do with not getting the paid-for number of nights.
It is very usual for night flights to Greece & Turkey.

I don't think the OP has any chance of getting anything out of Thomson.
Your flight at 03.30 would still have meant leaving the hotel before midnight on the 14th day so still techincally a 14 night holiday, OP isn't leaving his hotel until the wee hours of the 11th day, that's not a 10 night holiday, it's an 11 night holiday even though they would be checking out around 2-3am, it's after midnight, it's 11 nights, which is what Thompsons should have sold it as.
I agree though, I doubt OP will get anywhere with Thompsons.Accept your past without regret, handle your present with confidence and face your future without fear0 -
And still we don't know whether the holiday was sold by a human being or a web site that highlighted the flight times but the buyer didn't bother checking alternatives.
Or if an earlier flight has even been requested by the excitement of a telephone call!0 -
It's possible that the OP has to check out of their hotel 20 hours before they fly home.
Some have said there isn't much wrong with this
So, where's the cut off point before it shouldn't really be offered as a package with a warning or note that'll you'll be on your own for the best part of a night and day?Change is inevitable, except from a vending machine.0 -

To be pedantic, we left our hotel at 00:45 so not before midnight.
It was checkout day +1 as I previously stated - and the same checkout day +1 that the OP faces.
If Thomson had sold it as 11 nights, the OP would be on here complaining that he's paid for 11 nights but only using a few hours of his 11th night.0 -

I don't believe I've said there isn't much wrong with it.
I have said the OP has booked a 10 night (not 10 day) holiday and is getting that.
I have also said it's how things tend to operate with night flights - which is why, wherever we can, we avoid night flights on a package holiday.
For our long haul holiday, we've booked an extra night.
This means that our room will have been available from midday but we won't arrive until 02:30 on check-in +1. This means we will have access to our room immediately on arrival.
On checkout, we will leave our hotel at 22:00 on check-out day minus 1.
That is, 14 hours before we need to check out.
This means we will have our room right up until we leave instead of having to checkout at mid-day.
If we had booked a package, we would have had 10 hours to 'kick our heels' but we felt the extra cost was worth it.0 -

I agree, I'll rephrase
At what time does a night flight on your last day of your holiday become a day flight the following day?
I have 6am flight to Heathrow on Friday, I don't consider that a night flightChange is inevitable, except from a vending machine.0 -

Yes, very pedantic, still doesn't distract from the fact that yours was a night flight, OP's is a morning flight.
Would he be complaining at having to check out early morning? Really? I wouldn't if I were travelling with young children who are likely to have been in bed by 7-8pm the previous night.Accept your past without regret, handle your present with confidence and face your future without fear0
