Can you answer the question already asked: what time day and time do you check in?

In answer to your question. We'll be checking in at 4pm presumably as the we land at 13:10. It's an all-inclusive package and we land on 14th May. Depart 6:30 25th May

from the hotel, or take off time - I think that's the question being asked

    So check-in at 4pm 14/5.
14th May is your night 1
    15th night 2
    16th night 3
    17th night 4
    18th night 5
    19th night 6
    20th night 7
    21st night 8
    22nd night 9
23rd night 10 - this is what you've paid for
24th night - check out at midday
    25th fly home at 06:30.

Not sure where you're flying to but the above is very usual for self-catering accommodation in Greece/Turkey.
I'm not sure how AI hotels work.

Usually on 7/14 day packages you usually fly home on the plane that's brought a fresh set of passengers out i.e. the same time plane you flew out on 7/14 days earlier.

So if that plane lands at 13:10 (as your is), you would be flying back home at around 14:10 (allowing for removing/loading luggage/food, cleaning) so you would not have an issue with being out of your room as you'd probably be at the airport around 11:00 on the day of checkout.

I guess things aren't as simple with 10 day holidays.
But you have got what you paid for and I can't see the 'mis-sold' claim working for you.
I can't see Thomson giving you an extra night in the hotel either.

Your best bet is to try to arrange a late check-out on your last day or to keep your room on until you are ready to go to the airport.
This will be at a charge.
You will probably be leaving for the airport 3-4 hours before your flight.

    Did you book online?
    I'll try asking another way.

How did you book the holiday?

The main issue for us, is that we were sold a ten night family holiday with everything taken care of.

Not an eleven night holiday with one sat in a hotel lobby with tired and upset children. That wasn't in the advert at all and we feel like we've been mis-sold.

Is there anything we can do with Thomsons?

They didn't book it for you without you asking, so they would have presented the information to you when you paid - it sounds like you didn't notice and now you want them to change it.

Sorry but this is down to you I am afraid (I appreciate that sounds harsh, but its true! :( )

One would presume you booked it yourself on the internet as any decent travel agent would point out what day and time you would leave your room. Unfortunately 9, 10 or 11 nights do throw up odd combinations of flight times. As the others say just pay for an extra night you wont get anywhere with Thomsons they haven't done anything wrong.

This is a very odd thing to happen with a package holiday. Have you spoken to them at all yet?

    Why is it odd, Claire?
  • Have sympathy for you OP. I have just done a 'dummy' booking through the Thomson website (Manchester - Rhodes..I am guessing this is what you are doing....or if not it comes up with v similar results). If you put in 14 May departure and '10 nights', it does come up with the option with flying at 6am at the end of the holiday on Sun 25 May. No where does it provide warning that this is after 11 nights!

Got to say, if I'd asked for 10 nights, I'd expect it to return holidays of 10 nights (or give me warning that it has found some alternatives!). I'd try and ring them and see what they say (be interesting to hear what their definition of a 'night' is!), or as other people suggest just book another night of accommodation.

The OP is having 10 nights:

24th night - check out at midday
    25th fly home at 06:30.

The issue is the timing of the return flight home, nothing to do with not getting the paid-for number of nights.

It is very usual for night flights to Greece & Turkey.

We flew from MAN to Heraklion recently.
We arrived at our accommodation around 4am. That was night 1.

We were due to check out at midday after our 14th night.
Our return flight was not until 03:30 on checkout day +1 - which is similar timings to the OP.

We elected to pay extra to keep our room until 6pm.

I don't think the OP has any chance of getting anything out of Thomson.
