  • Right, sitting down now. I am so relieved today was better than I thought. I'm shattered as only got about 4 hrs sleep last night so I reckon a nice early night tonight is in order. Was in the office from 7.45 and left at 4pm so not too bad. Some of the new staff we interviewed were started today so it was nice to see some new faces. Was funny though as horrible boss walked down the office shouting happy new year to everyone and she actually came right into my corner to as me if I'd jad a nice time and how did the murder mystery night go. I nearly fell off my seat as communications is definitely not a strong point of hers. The girl sitting over from me is just back from 2n weeks in Tenerife an dshe never even asked her if she's had a nice time:rotfl:. So this interaction was absolutely aimed at me and I do appreciate her making that effort. It doesn't change things though but I will play the smiley, noddy game and just do as much as I need to. No more, no less.

I have seen a very interesting post advertised though that has got me intrigued. Very much customer orientated which is what I'm good at. I'll look at it tonight and see if I fancy it as just had a quick look today. Slight reduction in money but could car share with my brother and niece so would save heaps on petrol.

Had to go and get DS shoes and trousers today. No shirts to fit him but I will check later in week for that. So that was £32 for those 2. I picked up a few bits I needed whilst I was in and spent another £9.75 of shopping budget. I bought a couple of cards and a couple books and bars of chocolate for our colleague who is off having a hip replacement. We will send it with boss who is heading out to see him on Friday. Definitely not a NSD today :o. I did take my lunch to work though. HM Pea and ham soup and made a monster dinner of HM burgers and chips. I am stuffed.

I received £50 cleaning money so I've paid that off of Tesco. Just £185 to go. I checked the difference the payment made to my snowball and it knocked 2 months and £348.80 off my end total. Just shows if I paid at minimums until I was clear then that's how much extra I would pay out for that £50 :eek::eek:. Absolute shocker but extremely motivating.

I'm feeling lots better today. I was having a right old pity party yesterday. Onwards and upwards I say xx

    Hi MiT :)

Really pleased it was all OK :) Oh....they put you down then they're friendly to you I know, I know, I know.......Chinese water torture or pressure on / pressure off they can f#ck off! Well great news anyway :j !!

They really do think they are some superior species but if we can carry on and keep earning then good - they just get in the way. If you're like me the only link is through the BACS system which puts money in my account! My feelings and emotions do not extend as far as work anymore ;)

Brogden I'm getting there with the don't care attitude. Just going to concentrate on getting what is required so I am never in this position again. I am beginning to think you work in my office :rotfl:

Verbatim, pension would transfer so no worries there. I just need to see if post would suit me or not. As I said there would be a slight drop in money but I have been thinking about that and as it's still civil service then I would actually transfer on the same rate of pay. I maybe wouldn't get a payrise for a while but I could live with that.

INOD sorry I forgot to answer you about the compressed hours. Although this is an option in our terms and conditions we only have 1 person in an office of 350+ that has been given this. My current post is very much driven by the work that comes in and ha to be cleared within 24hrs so if I compressed my hours then they would need to cover the post for whatever day I wasn't in. I will look into this further though as I like that idea.

Lots of thoughts in my head but at least the knot in my stomach has gone :)

Thanks MiT :) !! If any move is within 'the service' then maybe no problem but make sure all boxes are ticked none the less. Please make sure you are 150% professionally advised if you should ever leave and work elsewhere. A lot of people have suffered financial meltdown as a result of pension transfers . I guess you knew that anyway :) !!

Sorry to have got carried away in my earlier post - I'm washing my mouth out with soap now :rotfl:!!!

Well done for the debt repayment, it is indeed shocking just how much interest these companies charge. I had all the interest frozen on my accounts citing financial hardship, this could be worth you looking into so long as you are absolutely certain you will not use the cards again?

Glad to hear work is going OK, I hope it carries on like that for you. As for the potential new job paying a little less, you never know if there will be opportunities to actually earn more; my wife moved to a job paying a little less and has now renegotiated her pay to be in line with the old job and has 2 contracts that she gets paid separately for that she would never have got had she stayed on at the old place. Not sure your line of work and do know public sector pensions are very good. However, are you sure you couldn't get paid a lot more in the private sector. When she was job hunting my wife saw a public sector job advertised in her line of work with a pay discrepancy of over £10,000.
    2018 totals:
    Savings £11,200
    Mortgage Overpayments £5,500
  • Ha ha Brogden I just meant what you were saying was all relevant to my office. Sounds like it's relevant to lots of other offices. Don't bother with the soap. It tastes rotten

Alex the job I looked at was only 17 hours when I looked at it closely. If I could work Tuesday to Friday in that then I could consider 2 days self employed on Mondays and Fridays and take the cleaning thing further. My head is fried tbh thinking about it all.

CSA now have an official complaint from me as my payments appear 'stuck' . There are 4 payments of £37 held in an account. They have been requested twice already and today I was told they would be requested again but would mean it would be around 29th January before I receive them I have been told twice already that they have been requested so today I got fed up and said NAH!! I'm fed up with this and this is not acceptable. Will get a complaints officer assgned to me within 5 days and hopefully something will happen. I told them I was now suffering hardship due to this and it was completely unacceptable. In all honesty the money will be used to reduce my overdraft but they don't need to know that.Apparently I should receive some compensation as well so I suppose that's a bonus.

Some good news now. 2lb off tonight at fat club. Slimmer of the week so I got a nice big bag of fruit and of course a sparkly sticker :D. Very happy with that but really will need to get rid of the trousers I have on as the crotch is nearly at my knees :rotfl:they are so big on me........................Love it.

My new best friend (nasty boss) was back and forth again today. Lots of laughs and palsy walsy stuff - giving me the boak but I smiled and nodded.

My poor friends Dad died this morning. I phoned her when I got out of work as she has been texting on and off all day and she said it was all nice and peaceful in the end and she is happy with that.

Spent £5 on fat club and £4.40 between cereal bars and raffle tickets whilst there.

A night of ironing and cycling ahead of me but am stuffed just now so I will wait a wee while. Take care all xx
