  • Ali I am so looking forward to it but I'm getting slightly concerned about this ash cloud from Iceland . I'm thinking positive though and I'm sure all will be well. 4 days to work this week and then off for 11 days :D

Dunno if any of you guys have been involved in the mcmillan ice bucket challenge but to say I screamed my head off is an understatement. OMG it was cold :rotfl:. All in a good cause though as we had such a fabulous laugh whilst doing it. My best pal, her husband, her DD and my 2 kids were all nominated so it was a total hoot.

Worked today and owner had a viewer coming to house so we only had 2 hrs to do a 3hr job. I came home and crashed for 2 hrs on couch. I was shattered.

Such a beautiful day here. Washing is blowing away outside. The sun is shining so I will be getting free power from my solar panels and I am going to make caramel shortcake so all is good.

The hockey is on my telly and dear God it is violent. Some of our football players should take lessons from these guys as they are getting battered all over the place and then just get up and carry on. All very macho.

I am having a nice chilled afternoon and intend my evening to be the same. DD is working so just DS and I. DD has come back from hols madly in love with an irishman from Dublin town. Poor soul her heart will be broken soon. But then again she gets asked out on dates at least twice a week so no doubt there will be a replacement along soon.

    Hope everyone is well xx

  • Evening all. I need to share exciting news with you all. Drum roll..............................the washing basket is EMPTY :D:D. Now this phenomena will not last but for this hour I shall cherish it. Washing all line dried as well and my meter has actually moved backwards due to the solar panels doing their thing all day.

Only spent a couple of pounds today on potatoes and yorkshire puddings. Dynamite dinner of roast beef and all the trimmings which tasted all the better as I got it with the vouchers for Morrisons a couple of weeks ago. We then had millionaire shortbread for pudding. I am fair stuffed. I also have enough leftover for another meal :D

Next week I will have landed and be sitting supping on a cocktail

A nice productive but easy going day today and a nice evening of period dramas in front of me with The Mill and The Village. I love that type of show.

Doing cleaning tomorrow and am so thankful I have done so many shifts this month so ds's trip can be paid cash and not put onto a card. No huge overpayments made nor target met but hey ho I have a happy son and that's what matters. Hopefully my brother has walking boots he can borrow and I will get him wellies for the trip during the week. He has everything else thankfully.

I hope you are all well xx

  • Evening folks, What a day

Went to do cleaning and road we use was closed due to an accident so we took a huge detour and managed to get there. DD had been complaining about feeling unwell and having lots of pain in her left side last night so today we went to work and I did all the heavy stuff and left her with the easier stuff to do but she was obviously very uncomfortable. On the way home I popped into the local medical assessment unit with her and we were there for hours. Huge drama getting her to give blood and I ended up giving out to her and she managed to get it done. Almost fainted mind you. Chest x-rays were done and also heart trace which were booth clear. Bloods came back with raised white blood cells and doc said that possible glandular fever but if not then the results were pointing towards cancer. I nearly fell off my chair. Poor DD's eyes nearly popped out of her head. Thankfully a separate blood test confirmed glandular fever which is bad enough but at least it's not cancer. Poor soul has been unwell for weeks and struggled on. She was in such pain today though that I had to get answers. Nothing can be done though except painkillers and I've given her a hot water bottle which seems to be helping.

Ended up buying a chippy dinner tonight on way home from hospital as it was after 8pm and we were all starving. Spent too much on unnecessary food today due to being disorganised.

DS has come home with another letter for a school trip to London in November. I am going to ask if I can get any help with this one. I'll just swallow my pride as I cannot afford to be prideful and it's another £250 with £70 deposit due in 2 weeks and I just paid £250 today. I do want him to go though and I'll find the money somehow if I can't get help.

So am now exhausted and working tomorrow. Only 4 more mornings to get up though before I stop for hols so that'll give me a spring to my step. Hope everyone is well xx

  • Your poor daughter struggling on. Hopefully hearing the cancer word has taught her the need to get things checked out early. After a day like that the only surprise is that the chippy visit didn't include a detour to the off licence. Try to take things easy. Good news re the time off. You'll need it for dd.

Glad to hear it's "only" glandular fever as opposed to the other option.

Make sure she doesn't do too much too soon as the fatigue that comes with it can be something else. I had it when I was a teenager and it took months to fully get over.
  • Hope you can both have a more relaxing day today (though I suspect you will be at work!). Take care Xx

Oh your poor DD! How frightening for you both. Glad she's being sorted out. I bet your break from work can't come soon enough.
I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)
  • Evening folks, What a crazy week. I am exhausted. I've been working all week whilst looking after a very poorly girl. Also been getting everything ready for DS's trip tomorrow for 4 days and mine on Sunday. At this rate I'll arrive in Alcudia and sleep for a week :rotfl:. So glad to have finished up work for next 11 days.

Money unfortunately has been hemorrhaging through my fingers with one thing and another. I need to sort it out when I get back.

Got my nails done tonight and they are fab, so whilst I was in I got eyebrows waxed and tinted and also eyelashes tinted. My niece had given me a voucher for my birthday but I was another £30 . Thank God I'm not a vain person as I couldn't afford it. I'm getting my highlights done tomorrow and then other than holiday spends I am done.

DD's new man from Ireland is coming over net week. Looks like they are smitten - Gawd help us all. He lives in Dublin which is not exactly handy. She said I'll love him though so hopefully I'll meet him next time he is home. Not overly sure how I feel about it tbh but I'll go with the flow.

So just a short post as I need to get DS to school in morning by 8.45am and it's 40 mins away. I then need to do cleaning job and then get haircut. Then I can do a quick run round house and relax. Taxi will pick me up at 02.45am for airport so I will go to bed after dinner and get a sleep. So i'll see you all in a week :D xx
