What a nice wee day today. Worked this morning. DS owed me his wages as he had borrowed money all week. He handed them over without a single moan so I gave him £15 back. He is really good at using his own money for everything and I felt sorry for him as he would have no money for the rest of the week.

Then we went to the Pipe Band championships which were fab until the heavens opened. I had on a sundress and sandals so we headed home. So £5 for parking, £6 for burgers and £4.80 for ice cream. Also bought posters and badges for the independence campaign as DS is right into it *rolleyes* Don't get me wrong I am incredibly interested as well but he cannot speak about anything else. Also bought rolls @ 80p. No other spends hopefully.

Heading into Glasgow tomorrow to watch the marathon then we will go to some of the music festival. Going with my brother and family so it should be a good day all round. I'll need to pay for train tickets though as no point in even trying to take car. No doubt we will get food of some sort when we are up there too. I might take some sandwiches with us though and limit the costs if I can.

Need to move my backside tonight and get some housework done if I'm going to be out all day tomorrow. Place isn't that bad but needs a dust, hoover and mop. Nobody really wanting any dinner as we have all been nibbling all day so that's good.

The heat has now left us and the bouncing rain is on. It's to be a wet week going by the forecast :(. Oh well at least we will sleep well as it's not too hot.

I hope everyone is having a nice weekend xx

Ashame the rain has returned on the weekend and when you're at outdoor events too. Hope it holds for tomorrow, the marathon will be brill, we watched the speed-walking at the Olympics and the atmosphere was amazing. :)

Definitely take a pack up and water - it's those sort of ad-hoc spends whilst there that can be avoided. :) We had rucksacks full of grub :D

You and me both on housework! :rotfl: I've moved the hoover 3 times, but not plugged it in :o

  • Evening folks. I have had an amazing family weekend.Pipe band championships on Saturday with DS as DD was on a date *rolleyes* and the Glasgow all day Sunday. I cannot emphasise enough how proud I am of Scotland just now. I just hope it lasts and the ned faction are kept at bay. We went by train into town ( £14.90 ) and watched the male and female marathon. The atmosphere was electric and there were thousands of us there cheering everyone on. Obviously our Scottish guys and gals got a wee extra shout out. Then went for lunch which with dd's discount cost £19.20. I was happy with that as that was 3 meals, 3 drinks and 2 sides. We were all stuffed and didn't even need dinner when we came home last night. Spent about £15 on ice creams, extra juices and general junk :o. Had to fill car up as well which was another £45 . Overdraft is HUGE this month so I am doubtful I will manage too much in overpayments. I don't care though as you can never get this time again and it has been worth every penny

In Glasgow there is a festival on as well. There are stalls everywhere ( which I managed to resist) open stages with live music- some better than others I may add. Some of the medal winners were being interviewed at the irn bru stand. Went to the park and the wee girls who won the singing competition from DS's school were just coming on the stage as we arrived so we were so excited at that. Just a fabulous fabulous day. I have blisters on my blisters but worth every step. Met up with my brother and his family so bridges were built as well. Absolute diet disaster though :rotfl:

No housework done but hey ho I don't care. I need to get loft emptied this week as insulation going in at weekend. Nightmare as we have nowhere whatsoever to store stuff. Oh well it can go back up after they're done but I want to clear out the rubbish whilst I can. I also want to sort out the hundreds of photos that I have but that'll take weeks.

August will be a very expensive month for me . Am out Friday and Saturday night. Dinner on Friday but no drinks so probs about £10. Barbeque and a 60th on Saturday so about £30 plus gift. My friend's 50th so a day out for that including food and drinks. My nephew's birthday. DD off to Spain so want to give her some euros. Hair to be highlighted for hols. School uniform for DS and then I head on hols for a week :eek:. Bloody hell! I hope no more invites come in.

Anyway I have been writing this on and off for 2 hrs but keep getting sidetracked by games and phone so I'm offski and will be back tomorrow no doubt :D

You do more in a few days than I do in a year socially :rotfl:

At least you know the costs and are keeping an eye on it, so no surprises (hopefully).

Good luck with the loft clearing! Let us know when you emerge!

  • Ali, my social life is a recent thing. Just the past couple of years. When my Mum was alive and I had 2 kids, a house, full time job and a part time job I had a much quieter life. My pals are all getting to the age now that our kids are more grown up, there is more money in the coffers :rotfl: cept for me, no need for babysitters and we have more free time. It all changes. I must say I am enjoying it a lot

I have the hospital tomorrow for a review appointment about my kidney. This is to see how my treatment has gone. I wonder how surprised they'll be when I say I've still not had it . I'm going though as I want to see if this consultant can pull any strings for me,
