Freeview / internet tv help needed!

Lynzog - Just want to add to my earlier posts about Filmon. It has just come up on my screen as 'expired'. I had never actually downloaded it, just watched it as soon as it appeared. However, I have now downloaded it (for free!) and can carry on watching it in a better format and, so far, with no ads. Hope this helps.KNIT YOUR SQUARE TOTALS:

Hi Mioliere, I have managed to stream it on my ipad and it is working fine. It hasn't asked me to register but I think that is if I watch HD as you suggested. The little screen is fine for me thanks
best suggestion, thanks!
(Ignoring the other posts that are just trying to continue any arguments started by the person telling me to "go buy a tv licence and sort it out myself". Also, I don't live in London. Never said I did.)0 -

I was sure you had said you did, earlier in the thread, but never mind if you don't ... question still stands, though - do your neighbours LOOK as though they're getting Freeview? Do they have aerials?
Which part of the country are you in?0 -
You're wasting your time, they aren't going to answer any pertinent questions.!!

For those who maybe haven't read my post, here you go.I have heard of Internet TV such as Apple TV and google, but need a bit of help to point me in the right direction.
What I want to do is watch live TV by streaming through the internet. either with my HD ready TV or ipad...
Does anyone have any recommendations?
I have had an excellent suggestion, and this has worked well so far.
Someone else asked about aerials etc and me getting freeview normally. My query (as above) was asking if anyone knew anything about the so called "Internet TV" boxes, and if they were just an on demand service or if they streamed all of the freeview channels through the web. That is all.
If someone asked a question "what is 2 multiplied by 3", you wouldn't say "2 plus 3 is 5." You would say either that you didn't know, or the answer to the question.
From one person misunderstanding a question, telling me to "go buy a TV licence and an aerial and sort it out" has now been blown out of proportion. All I wanted to know about is if anyone knew about Internet TV such as Apple, google, or Roku. That is all. Not about aerials!0 -
You're welcome; I'm glad it answered your initial query.KNIT YOUR SQUARE TOTALS:

I find it strange that you cannot get Freeview, especially as you are high up. Are you surrounded by trees? Just that they can cause problems with the signal.
Did the installer for the aerial explain why you could not get freeview? Have your neighbours got new-looking aerials?
I would suggest trying for the TV aerial route again, find another installer and find out if they are willing to try installing one for you, explaining previous problems, you should only have to pay when they get a signal through to your TV.What is this life if, full of care, we have no time to stand and stare0 -

Well, that's the way of things with real conversation as well as forum conversation.
Given a large enough group, if you introduce a specific topic, different people take different views on what your topic is, and it goes off at tangents. Given a large enough group, you can't fight it, and in the real world, once it's moved far enough from what YOU thought the topic was, if you try and drag the group back to it, you'll be looked at as if you've come in from Jupiter.
People around here WANT to help you. They're genuinely baffled at your stance that you 'can't get Freeview', and suspect that something has been missed about your location, the installation, or both. This is why people are asking you about whether or not your neighbours can get it too, etc.
When people WANT to help you, and freely give you their time and expertise at no cost, should you really be telling them what to do, and rudely rejecting their help?0 -
You were told several times that what you wanted didn't exist, and that sorting out the aerial would be the best solution, based on the info you provided.
The web service you're using could shut down anytime, and you'll be back to square one.0 -
I think I must be the odd one out here because I knew exactly what the OP wanted as soon as I read his/her post - to be able to 'watch live TV by streaming through the internet', which is exactly what Filmon (that I recommended) does, so it does actually exist. If Filmon does shut down, then users will, indeed, be back to square one but, for as long as it operates, it provides a useful service.KNIT YOUR SQUARE TOTALS:
