Freeview / internet tv help needed!

Lynzog, you have a number of issues.

The £250 aerial. Was it installed by a professional? If so then deal with them to get your connection sorted or your money back.

Start by checking availability http://www.freeview.co.uk/availability

If you should be able to get a signal then inspect your coax. It should have a central core, an insulator, a solid layer (copper or other metal) and then the wire braid. If it hasn't then that may be the problem.

Other means of accessing TV. Who is your ISP? Do they supply wired TV like Virgin do? Have you tried VM?

Hi Johnmc, thanks for that useful post. Sorry have some crazy aggressive stalker that won't leave this thread alone! I'm not going into the £250 aerial part, that's being dealt with as am going through the process of a refund. I have just checked, and that link says I should get freeview. The flat downstairs (I live in a converted townhouse) have virgin, although I can't get it as I am upstairs. Unsure how this works, but there we go. Another forum person suggested freesat, I am weary as I don't want to spend money on something that won't work. Plus I'm not really allowed a sat dish. However am willing to try this as a last resort. My ISP just does internet, and it is fast enough to stream. They don't do TV

What things? Are you saying you did not say that I should go get a TV licence and sort it myself?? If I was able to quote it I would have. You kept editing it. Thanks so much, I have just managed to try this and I can stream this on my ipad. Unsure how long it will last though and will hope an internet TV box (with freeview channels) gets invented in the mean time.

Of course, I have a TV licence as I am watching live TV albeit on the internet!!

Obviously you have a perception with the problem of stalkers but good luck with the refund

If they can get Virgin cable then so can you unless the freeholder/lessor will not allow them to drill into your wall for one cable.

See my comments above in red, but realistically if you have not talked to other neighbours(on the same side of the road as you) about their ability to get freeview we are all working in the dark. I also feel you are really being unfair by calling closed a stalker , this "appears" to be your first visit to the forum and as such the "Be Nice to Newbies" is actually a two way street.

Agreed. You did not see the comments that they have "edited" and "deleted". You can see this as it shows that they have at the bottom of the square. If someone is rude to me, and keeps stalking with comments acting like a troll when I have asked numerous times for them to leave me alone, then I will come back at them. If you were new to a forum and someone was aggressive and sarcastic to you at the outset, are you saying you would not be defensive??

RE: virgin, I tried getting this when I moved in and 2 people I spoke to said that they can do the ground floor flat at my address but not mine. I will try again if you are saying this is incorrect. And thanks, I will be getting the refund this isn't an issue.

You still have not answered my question about asking the neighbours on the same side of the street/road about whether they can get Freeview......Although it seems that you have asked two people about cable and they said that Virgin can do the ground floor but not yours, were these people from Virgin?. I am sorry but you really are not helping yourself with this issue nor helping the not-awful people on this forum to help you.
