Freeview / internet tv help needed!

I have been watching TV via tvcatchup.com for ages as I cannot get an arial to work with my TV and have fast internet at home.
Because they have deleted 90% of the channels I am now stuck and can only watch on demand and not live.
I have heard of Internet TV such as Apple TV and google, but need a bit of help to point me in the right direction.
What I want to do is watch live TV by streaming through the internet. either with my HD ready TV or ipad. (So watch E4 live via the net)
Does anyone have any recommendations? I have been online for hours and with many devices promising "hundreds of channels" I can't see if this means freeview live streaming or just on demand.

http://www.watchtvnow.co.uk/ has links to some of the free channels - including E4
Although unless things have changed (I've never used an Apple product so won't know) you won't be able to watch any on the iPad as they all use Flash.0 -
That seems to have the same issue as tvcatchup - it has links to external websites that do not work. I have just clicked BBC three for example, and it says I have to watch on the TV.0

bbc3 etc can be watched on iplayer, other channels have their own catchuptv services
or you could always buy an aerial/sky/virgin service and a licence!!

it says you can't watch that particular programme. It links to the BBC website which will only show you TV that can be watched live online. If you can't watch it on the BBC itself your only other option is one of the dodgy sites.0 -
Ok I don't think I have explained what I mean as it seems everyone is saying that I do not want to buy a tv licence and use dodgy websites?!?
I do have a tv licence, I just want a way of streaming TV via the internet. That is all. I can't get an arial, I have spent over £250 on a new one and it does not work. When I found TvCatchup it was the only thing that worked.
But they have removed channels and added links to external sites on what is left. Most do not work like with BBC three as above.
I know about BBC iplayer, and of you look at my first post I say "I am now stuck watching on demand and not live". Iplayer is an on demand service. What I want to do is stream live tv on my ipad or buy a box that can do it for my TV.0 -
If you want to watch BBC3 live online, you have to watch it from the BBC site - or a dodgy channel. When you click the link for BBC3 from the site I gave you, it takes you to the BBC website and lets you watch TV live.
If you click it now it's playing live BBC 3 TV. If the BBC aren't showing the programme online (like American Dad earlier), there won't be a legitimate website, showing it.0 -
you can watch live tv on iplayer http://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/tv/bbc_three/watchlive, and e4 http://watchlive.channel4.com/E4
the obvious solution is to fix the aerial, £250 should have done that, and if you are really in such a bad location that there is no signal, it would have paid for a satellite dish and freesat.
streaming services depend on the channels you want to watch allowing it, which is why some have gone from tvcatchup!!

Ok "closed" you seem to not be able to read. I have bought a NEW Ariel, and it doesn't matter I can't get signal where I live. If I was happy paying £250 for an Ariel that doesn't work, why wouldn't I get it fixed??? Plus you can't stream live as mentioned. PLUS I want all freeview channels not just bbc. If you do not understand the questions, please do not offer your "help"
SG - yes I know that. Which is why I have asked the question as above. I'm not asking for people to agree with what I have wrote (that I can only watch on demand or iplayer), I wanted to see if anyone knows about a product or service that would do what I'm looking for.0 -
I've just checked TV Catchup and the 'external site' they're being diverted to, are the actual sites. If you watch ITV live on TV catchup then it's streaming the programme straight from the ITV website and displaying it on the TV Catchup website. If you click on 4 music, it takes you to the 4 music website and plays it instead of streaming data from the 4 music website, through the TV Catchup, site.0

the answer is no then,.
If you can't watch a BBC programme, live on the BBC website. Why would you be able to watch it live on any other website? where do you think they'd be getting their broadcast from if it's not the BBC (or any other channel. i'm using the BBC as an example)/
Your best bet would be to get Sky or cable TV.0
