I'm 43, and have never claimed to be some high flyer in retail. But I do have experience in various sectors.
And if you mean a discussion/debate when you say 'run in', then maybe you should evaluate if forums are right for you. The idea of forums is to discuss/debate issues, not insult people just because they don't agree with you.
My god I hope when I get to 43 I don't act like you on internet forums!0 -

That's hardly a qualification.
They are not exactly doing their own purchasing and deals with suppliers as it's a chain. It's !!!!!!!! and your mate is obviously a bit thick. What probably happens is their central supplier sends the shortest dated stuff first, this is called stock rotation and is common practice whether it's a shelf in a corner store or a huge depot. Again I am asking, how could any brewer survive if they regularly (and they would have to) made that much overstock? The truth may be out there, but the lies are inside your head. Terry Pratchett

Exactly; every brewer, be they large or small, supplying a company the size of Wetherspoon, is contracted to supply X amount of casks of X beer for delivery to whichever wholesaler (Carlsberg-Tetley mostly for JDW). The supply chain has to be that way for centralised distribution to work.
JDW managers do not do what a local free house may do; that is go down to/ring the local wholesalers yard and strike a deal for one or two short dated casks to shift over the coming weekend.:rotfl:adouglasmhor wrote: »The one in Llanelli is a strange place.
Agreed; but cheap!0
