Aaarggh don't know what to do. I have a normal PC which i use for banking etc. That pc is off limits to the kids in case they put a virus on it. Yes i have antivirus protection and firewall. So last year i bought my daughter a laptop to use. I told her i will just check it out for her. Every time she asks for the laptop i tell her i am still checking it. You will gather i have 'fallen in love' with the laptop and am reluctant to give it to the kids.

I know ii have to surrender this laptop to the kids. However when i saw this dell deal it seems very good value. Better spec than my laptop and yet over a £100 cheaper.

What i need to know is ..

    1. do dell often offer such offers now and then?
    2. is this laptop priced because it is being replaced?
    3. will this offer happen again?

£450 is what i can't just spend freely but will do if it is a definate bargin not to be repeated again
Problem with having access to internet is that i get asked by many to solve their problems :( Well at least i learn something on the way :D

I've been looking since the beginning of May and this has been the best offer I've seen but there are a lot of dell offers around have a look at http://www.dmxdimension.com/ for a whole list of dell offers.

This offer has finished now, looks like dell have updated all their laptop range.

The new ones look quite nice and finally have dx10 graphics cards. However with only 1gig ram at the moment they are not really bargains.

All the desktops have been updated as well.
 Prices have gone up with the min spec levels increased and e-value codes reduced

yeah its a shame I didnt see this before the offer changed as it was just what my sister is looking for....

Obviously having 2gig of ram is better than 1 but does it really make that much difference as it cost £111 to upgrade it from 1 to 2 gig ?

Hi I looked in that site and they looked pretty good. Where can I compare apples with apples? If there are any techies out there could you please help me. We need a new desktop badly as ours is making whirring noises. I am totally useless at all the techie stuff. I do not know what e-values are if someone can explain.
Is there a site to compare computers please? We do not need that much from a computer as we have no children at home. Would like to learn to download some music or poetry. We store some photos on the pc and use it to look up certain things like this site, our emails etc. We also use it to go into a trivia chat room. If anyone could give me some advice please on what I am looking for as it is all double dutch to me. I do not want to get things I do not need but similarly I do not want to get a computer and then realise there is not enough memory etc. Will there be windows and word loaded onto the computer or will I have to pay for that seperately? Thanks Taffy
PS Should I put this in a new thread or not?
