I just got mine today it came with Vista buisness, MSwork, goggle desktop, Orange and Tiscali bloatware (yuk), Mcafee 30day trial

Impressed with it just got rid of some of the bloatware, as above apart from Msworks. Didnt like the google equivalent widget things on desktop, so using Vista offerings.

The dvd seems slow though it wouldn't pull faster enough XviD file from it (700mb), but not really a big issue

Can anyone recommend a 15.4 laptop case, I am wanting one that flips open and has some protection in case of knocks, would also like one if there is any that can strap over a back of a car seat for kids to watch or play on it.

In terms of a case, if you have a Costco near you, and are or know a memebr, there is a pretty good case from the makers of the Swiss Army penknife. Looks good. Don't need one myself although I have a similar machine from a couple of months back. Enjoyed taking all the rubbish off and freeing up some space.

Personally I think MSWorks is rubbish. Have you tried Open Office?

    Hi All,

I've orderered mine today! Order went into pre-production after about 10 mins!

When I ordered my Dell Dimension desktop last year, that only took 4 days to arrive (even though I ordered it on a Bank Holiday Monday), how long has it been taking your ones to arrive?

Are they also as quiet and 'cool' (as in fan not going like mad cool!) as they are meant to be? This Dell dekstop with its Intel processor is almost silent unless its working hard!

    Cheers

Mine arrived yesterday and it is as good as I thought it would be.

Had to remove the dell junk and the wireless card was set to wireless b by default which needed changing to b/g

All in all a very nice machine.

Although does anyone know where I can get a 64bit version of vista from and how much they are?

ok now i am an idiot

Tesco's are selling a nice looking lappy bag just now, to go along with their own laptop on sale, I think it's around £15-£20, may be worth a look, I quite fancy this lappy but really want the new shinny type lcd screen.
If you plan on using the laptop out & about, I'd strongly recommend NOT getting one with a Truelife (or whatever the others call it) screen. They're great when inside, but if you're out in the open and it's a nice day, all you'll see on the screen is reflection. They're a nightmare.
The pen is mightier than the sword, and considerably easier to write with.

I put this question on the Techie site, but perhaps somebody here will know. Do Dell laptops come with a free disk, just in case you have to reboot for any reason?

Usually it's an extra, (£5) but it looks like it's listed as in the deal as it is (the Resource DVD)

I have a single core turion with 1gig mem and everything else the same. It runs for a good 2-3 hours on the 6 cell depending on use. They are not power hungry chips at all. Something is not right if you're 9 cell is only lasting 2 hours. Did you have the cd drive playing all the time ?

he did say it was only his first charge so 2hours is pretty good.

I got this Belkin from Amazon for £10.70:

It's good value and the 1501 fits nicely with room to spare. Lots of pockets for accessories. Order something else to make it up to at least £15 (a Belkin laptop lock for £7.58?) and get free delivery.

Go through Rpoints and you'll get £5 cashback on your first Amazon order:

what is so good about this laptop? is it the spec TL56? is it priced because it is being replaced? i know it is good in the way that it has 2Gb memory, 120Gb harddrive.

i am tempted to buy this. was wondering that for home use, web browsing etc is vista business adequate or do i need vista professional?

if i place the order via quidco can i ring the cutomer service later and see if they can change the vista to professional?
Problem with having access to internet is that i get asked by many to solve their problems :( Well at least i learn something on the way :D
