    Hi All,

As far as I know this is only available online with Windows Vista Business, but as some people have had that changed to Windows Vista Home Premium instead over the phone, perhaps it is possible to get them to change it to Windows XP?

what is so good about this laptop? is it the spec TL56? is it priced because it is being replaced? i know it is good in the way that it has 2Gb memory, 120Gb harddrive.

As far as I know the present Dell laptop range is being replaced in July/August, though the processors on their present range are all still new I guess the changes to the 'new' range will largely be cosmetic, new cases etc!

    Cheers

I got this with xphome last time but very pleased with it :D

    choices available are at :-

Be warned if you ring dell to try and get cheaper if you dont buy the extras you will get cut off or not called back as the desk gets commission on the extras they say.

dont know how long the offer will be on for though. Dont buy vista home premium with it unless you have 2gb of memory

I do think its a good deal, in fact I've bought one, for delivery on Tuesday!

The new models may be slightly more, wouldn't expect them to be expensive though, but you might not get the free printer say with a similar machine?

As long as you get a good deal on Dell (say from dmxdimension.com) they almost all seem good value for money though!

    Cheers

Father is also interested. Can you run/play/record videos? I heard that business version does not have media player

If Media Player isn't installed by default (I don't even think it was on this PC with XP Media Center, as it has Media Center instead), I'm sure you can easily download it free and legally from the Microsoft Website!

The PC will be able to view DVD/Videos no problem though, maybe also using other software better than Media Player!

I'll report back Tuesday afternoon when my one arrives, unless anyone else can confirm before then!

    Cheers

    Hi Again,

Just checked this on the Microsoft Website

    http://www.microsoft.com/windows/windowsmedia/player/versions.aspx

Top part of that table shows that Windows Media Player for Windows Vista is included in ALL versions of Windows Vista, those being Home Basic, Home Premium, Ultimate, Business, and Enterprise editions of Windows Vista.

    Good News then!

If Vista Business is anything like XP Professional which I used for ages on my previous PC, from a user point of view it was no different from the Home version at all!

    Cheers

Is there much difference between the Dell 1501 laptops and the 6400 laptops?

Isn't Vista Business better than Vista Home Premium ? Only Vista Ultimate has more features ?
