Congrats Chickpea, really hope it's a sticky one for you x
Good luck for today PM.0 -
Mission success.
FS agreed that Clomid is pointless for us. NHS no longer funds IUI. In our area, you normally have to be unexplained (as it were!) for three years before an IVF referral, but we explained that MrTeapot needs to start on medication which he can't TTC on. We've been trying for 2.5 years, so she phoned the IVF clinic and explained and we're being referred.
Need to have lots of blood tests again over the next couple of weeks, and fresh sample for MrTeapot and a fresh scan of me, then the paperwork goes through.
I don't know enough about the IVF process yet - I've been dealing with this whole thing one step at a time. I asked how many cycles get funded (three, plus up to three further emby transfers if there are any still on ice) and where the clinic was (close - phew!) and that was about it!
Apparently the clinic does occasional open evenings so I think we'll go along to one to get a better idea of what's coming (I already know about the injections!).
Really relieved to be doing something at last. I know IVF isn't always the answer and I know what the success rate is like so we're realistic, but feeling less stuck in limbo now.
Also means no more trips to the FS, whose waiting room is next to the ultrasound waiting room.
Good luck with your appt today PM0 -
hi all,
Chickpea - congratulations, I really hope this is your time! x
Pinkteapot - glad your FS agreed Clomid was pointless for you and didn't try fob you off with IUI either (which is also statistically ineffective in unexplained IF). Good to get out of limbo in time for crimbo!! (sorry, bad rhyme!)
PM - good luck today lovely, hope it goes well! Bring on the egg! x
Slinky - great attitude, I might adopt that for Christmas too! Oct was two years trying for us and I was really down. Something about that 2 year mark - when it feels like it's not just bad luck and there really must be something wrong.(that's how it felt for me anyway)
T2D - sorry you've been feeling depressed, I hope the sky gets bluer for you soon. x
Code - have you worked out the blood tests issue yet?
Hugs ladies xxx0 -
We're hoping to move in Feb (if the sale and purchase goes through OK). Between that and IVF the year will be in no way fraught.
Here's to BFPs all round in 2014.0 -

Thanks everyone!!
Thanks for the sticky vibes MV, I shall do my best to absorb them!
Onestep - thanks! It means a lot, I'll keep you posted on developments..How are you?
Life's full of surprises sometimes, isn't it! Nerve-wracking though.
Last time, I leaked the news like a leaky sieve from an early stage, and then felt like such an idiot - a miserable one - when I had to un-tell people after the m/c. So this time, I'm keeping schtum until I see a heartbeat.
I keep saying to myself that *all* I have to do is keep it alive, but short of not eating and drinking the wrong stuff and throwing myself in the road, that bit's sort of out of my hands.
I'm going to be knicker-checking for 8 straight months though, assuming it sticks. (Please stick..)
I have told my husband now though - he is overseas and was in a work meeting, so had to contain his reaction somewhat! He's home soon though.
The tests are annoying though. The IC are still so hazy and faint, although they do gradually develop, but the FRER is clear as a bell. I'll do one more tomorrow then step away. (But I might also treat myself to a digi, just for a thrill.)
Typically, what with Christmas and all, I have recently purchased 12 bottles of Champagne, 12 bottles of Prosecco and a case of mixed red and white, just to see us through Christmas. I shall enjoy watching other people drink it! I'll also have to pass on the £8 jar of Heston Blumenthal chicken liver parfait that I bought to go with warm crusty bread...(if you haven't tried it, you must...seriously divine!)
Thanks again for the congrats, it means so much.
SS - I'll be 41 on my next birthday too - 40 is the new 30 though, seriously!0 -
Congratulations chickpea. Hope you have a happy, healthy and very boring pregnancy
So, here in still-infertile land, today I ended up telling my line manager about the fertility treatment. I had my appraisal today (man, I hate those things) and as I've had a lot of medical leave lately, she was asking how I was doing and if there was anything she could do to help - anyway I've had so many hospital appointments lately and more coming up and I didn't think she'd buy the gynae excuse much longer so I told her. She was really nice actually but did ask if we could get sperm from DH's brothers (eerm, no, they're morons) or if we'd considered adoptionAnyway, after all that, she's ok with me taking time off for appointments. Just as well really, cause there are loads coming up.
I managed to book a blood test for Monday but AF still hasn't arrived so hoping it arrives before then.
I have an ultrasound/tv ultrasound booked for next Friday (not much notice there). Also the happy news is that I have to report to ultrasound in the maternity wing. Fantastic!! Then an utterly pointless HSG in January. This is alongside my consultant appointments for my condition and getting my wisdom teeth removed.
After those tests, it's peeing in test tubes and storing said pee in the freezer, then waiting for DH's biopsy when we'll find out if ICSI is going to happen, hoping it happens before I reach 25.
Decided to abandon all pretence at a diet since it's almost Christmas - we've got 2 office drinks events next week, the office is full of sweets and then it's the Christmas break, but 3 of us in the office are going to start dieting together in January and I'm definitely going to be going to the gym. Come on BMI of 29!!Eu não sou uma tartaruga. Eu sou um codigopombo.0 -
Sorry you have to go to the maternity wing codemonkey.
It really is rubbish. Our FS appointments at our local hospital have been in gynae which is the same place as antenatal, and you walk past the delivery suite to get there. At ours, they have at least moved the early pregnancy unit away from the gynae stuff - they used to share a waiting room!
Congrats on telling work! I'm going to have to once our IVF referral goes through. My company has a specific policy on fertility treatment and says you can have up to five days a year off for it. Anything over that will have to be taken as holiday, but we get a good holiday allowance so I'm not complaining.0 -
Congratulations chickpea!!!! So pleased for you.
My scan has been moved to beginning of February and in my head that sounds so much further away than the end of January.
Nothing going on here, but don't believe I have Ov'd this month. There has been no signs of Ov at all. Now day 28 and no cramping nothing of signs of AF looming forward either. So obviously after a long cycle my body has decided to play up even more.
Sorry haven't been around recently, I am self employed so have been having the xmas rush on. Plus have started working along side my parents in their new business. So have been having long days.
Plus spent last week with an eye on the news as my local town flooded last week ,and my parents were warned of evacuation. I feel so sorry as some of my friends' houses got flooded.Remember never judge someone that makes a mistake, because in six months time it may be you that makes the next mistake.0
