Hi ladies and welcome CH.
A friend suggested trying reiki and at this point I'm willing to give anything go to help the IVF in January work.
Also, I think I'm going to take a break so I won't be around for a few weeks. Good luck to everyone and I wish you all a merry Christmas and a happy New Year.

Ladies can anyone reassure me?
I've been looking at the ivf injection DVD and am now terrified of a) injecting myself - the whole thing looks scary and painful and b) injecting into a vein. How do you avoid this?!
Anyone help?! Please?!
I am such a wuss0 -
W2DN - do you have the pre-filled pens or the vials of liquid? I only have experience of the pens but the needle was so thin it honestly didn't hurt at all (not even a scratch) and I am massive wuss too.
Where are you instructed to inject? Would you trust OH to do it for you maybe so you don't have to look?0 -
W2DN-I was very anxious about the injecting, but like WW, I had the pen and it was really easy. I did them into my thigh and got a bit of skin between my thumb and forefinger-not in a nip but bunched up if that make sense? (Like the way I squidge a bit of fat belly when I'm grumping about being fat) The needle is so fine that you hardly feel it, the only mistake I made with the pen the first time was that I didn't press hard enough on the top to release the Gonal F, so had to do it again. The first time is always the hardest, and it does get easier x
WW, sorry for you BFN, it is very early days though-don't believe everything you read online x0 -
I know it's not the same but were using menopur so using vials. It's really not that bad and I quickly got used to it, it's. means to an end or so I keep telling myself.0

Hugs WW, still have my fingers crossed for you as it's early days.
Peonie happy christmas and I hope you have a good break.
Hi CC
W2DN - I injected sub-cutaneously into my stomach using needles (no pens until the trigger shot) I had to fill with the medication each time. I used the same technique as mrshappy; it didn't hurt and took about 10 seconds. The needles are short so you can't hit veins or arteries if you inject into your thigh, stomach or bum. I found rubbing ice on my skin just before the injection helped the first couple of times. The first injection is the worst as you don't know what to expect. The biscuit will only dare to be just a biscuit when it is with its true friend the potato. (Edward Monkton) :beer:0 -
Thanks ladies. No pens just the vials I have to fill up each time. I'm just going to have to suck it up aren't i?! Good to hear I can't hit a vein and it's not painful.
I've got my drug appt thurs so will find out more then.thanks again x
WW - it's not over yet! Fingers n toes crossed for you

I too was worried about hitting a vein. In four rounds of injections I never did and I think your chances of doing so when injecting into your stomach or thigh are tiny. There's just too much fat before you get to the veins (well there is on me anyway). I think you'd know because it would start bleeding. If this does happen (it won't) all you need to do is remove the needle, apply a bit of pressure if the bleeding doesn't stop immediately and choose a different spot.
Ask one of the nurses to talk you through the technique if you can. It's probably more reassuring than a DVD. After the first couple it really will feel easy, I promise. You can't feel a thing. Bizarrely I grew to quite enjoy doing it."Growth for growth's sake is the ideology of the cancer cell" - Edward Abbey.0 -
Hi all, I'm back again after a long break... We've got a FS appointment on Thursday. We had three months of Clomid which didn't work. I know that she's going to try and make us have another three months of it.
We're down as "unexplained infertility" and I've read that Clomid is of next to no benefit. We've now been TTC for 2.5 years. Do you think I'll get anywhere pushing for an IVF referral as it's been over 2 years? I really don't want to waste another six months (three of Clomid, then waiting for the next appointment).
(This is all NHS-based in case that wasn't obvious).
On top of that, DH has a long-term medical condition. His specialist for that wants to try him on a new drug, as they need to get it under control. But it's a drug that we can't TTC while he's taking it, so we've said no (for now).I'm hoping that if I explain to FS that hubby's own treatment is on hold pending baby luck, combined with the 2.5 years trying time, that we'll be able to get on to trying IVF. I do know it doesn't have brilliant odds of working either.
